GFI FYI eieio!
We had a wiz-bang thunderstorm about three days ago. My bride called me at work yesterday... "What does it mean when the 'fridge is reading 60 deg. and LP is flashing?" I asked her "Do you see the microwave clock?"
Answer "YES". Hit auto changeover? "Yes"... still flashing... LP (I only open 1 bottle at a time, so I know when to refill.)
Raced home at lunch... all 110 breakers Test OK... Power to rig TOK... turn on second bottle... 'fridge goes to LP cooling. Reach into access door and unplug 'fridge... plug into live extension cord.. 'fridge switches to shore power... Just because.. I hit the GFI reset in bathroom... CLICK! it resets... all is well with the world! Threw away about $300 worth of steaks, swordfish filets, scallops, etc... but cheaper than a new 'fridge.
Next project... dedicated 110 to back of fridge bypassing GFI, but with surge protector.
Any thoughts?

I had my gfi that the trailer is plugged into go and the battery went dead before I realized just the other day. Had to toss a lot but luckily no steaks or seafood were in there.
Surprised that the plug is protected. I think a new plug is a good idea.

I don't see a need for the GFI on the fridge other than it was an easy wire job for the factory to come straight off of the kitchen counter outlet which is GFI'd through the bathroom unit. All of the outside outlets are also downstream of the bathroom unit, which is code.
Technically, I guess the fridge outlet qualifies as an outside accessible 110v outlet, but the chances of anyone using it are slim or none.

Bingo, any plugs located near water or accessible to wet surroundings such as the outside plug, kitchen, bathroom are protected by a GFI. Although inside the frig access panel that plug is no different than the your outside plug. Safety concerns regardless of probability (slim or none)

It's off of the GFI protection as far as I'm concerned, and I'll put a note in next to the outlet, absolving Keystone of any liability for my rash decision, should I fry that one time in ten years I stick my hand in there again! I'm off of warranty anyhow!

OKAY after completion of your MOD, remember to remove the RVIA Sticker from the side of you rig. Or post a WARNING sign near the outside frig compartment access area" Insulated Boots Required in this Area "
