First RV need help

Hello, my family just bought a new 2021 Keystone passport SL. When I try to run the RV off the batteries nothing works. The disconnect is in and the inverter and solar display works but that's it. I double checked the breakers as well and no power is getting to them. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. My family is completely new to camping trailers so it could very well be something simple I am missing.

You will need to provide more specifics. What do you mean by nothing runs? The battery will only provide power to 12V systems, and if you have an inverter, to those outlets tied to the inverter. Do your trailer's interior lights work?

First, welcome aboard! You've come to the right place to learn and share.

I agree that the battery disconnect is the first place to check. You state that it's "in", but is it turned to the right position? Please check that again. If you can pull the disconnect key out, then it's off. Turn the key 180 degrees to turn it on. You then won't be able to remove the key until you turn it off.

If this doesn't make sense then please post a picture of your disconnect set up and we can go from there.

You have 2 power sources on a rv, 12 volt from your battery/ies & 120 volt from shore power or generator.
The plugs throughout the rv will not be powered unless you're plugged into a power pedestal or using a generator.
If by chance you do have an inverter it most likely runs a residential fridge, if equipped, or only a couple outlets such possibly the TV. You WILL have a converter that provides 12 volt power & charges your batteries when plugged into shore power..
Your lights, water pump, slides/jacks, & awning will all be 12 volt.
You CAN NOT run everything in the rv on battery power alone!

I agree about checking the battery disconnect switch. Make sure it's in the 'on' position. Check the electrical panel to see that all breakers are on and that there are fuses in all the labeled fuse holders. Once you've done that try turning on some lights. This will confirm that you're getting power to the electrical panel.

The typical electrical system will operate the lights, water pump, bathroom exhaust fan, stereo, awnings, slides, stabilizer jacks and tongue jack off the 12V system. If you're plugged into shore power (120V) the these same 12V systems may get their power from a 120V to 12V converter. All 120V recepacales, TV and AC units run off 120V only unless you have an Inverter (12V to 120V).

The refigerator operates off propane or 120V power. Leave the switch in 'auto' so that it operates off 120V when you're plugged into 120V power. It will automattically switch to propane when you dissconnect from 120V power.

Most converters have a built in automatic battery charger to keep your batteries charged up when you're plugged into 120V power.

Good luck and happy camping.

Once you get things up and running please share what you did or discovered. This will help the whole community of RVers to solve a similar problem.

Thanks bunches.
