Yep the hillbillies come out of the piney woods on Saturday at our WalMart. The only thing that can beat it for entertainment is the boat ramp at 4:30 AM on the the first day of duck hunting season.

Do y'all dress up Mexican for taco Tuesday?
As much as I like racing it really is just an excuse to get "on the road". I do have some historic tracks I want to check off my bucket list. I can happily report that list is getting shorter.

Dang now I will have to look at hwy 6. We saw hwy 59 up here between Emporia and Kansas City.
One of my BS possible trips was to go to Port Arthur and follow 287 To Montana. I've driven sections of it but not on purpose to follow it.

My local Walmart looks like a “pajama bottom fashion show”…I don’t know what compels a person to go shopping like this.

Also I was at a Rita’s Italian ice yesterday and a woman had a small nightgown on in the store..it’s really weird.

Pretty gross if you ask me…like a bunch of giant talking dirty socks walking around

Makes me want to pour a bottle of hand sanitizer over my head

Anyone have any other long ones?
I believe the longest is US 89, from right here in Wickenburg AZ, north over the border and partway through Canada. But I wouldn't plan on RVing it with anything much bigger than a TaB, given all the switchbacks right north of here in Yarnell and Prescott National Forest!

1,252 miles

No US Hwy running north to south is going to be longer than a coast to coast Hwy running east to west

US 50 (also known as the Loneliest Hwy in America) is one of the longest. It is 3,073 miles long, running from West Sacramento, California to Ocean City Maryland.

I drove on it yesterday, it in the middle of Nevada.

Interstate 80 runs from San Francisco, CA to somewhere in New York, but it is only 2,990 miles long.

Aaargh! I mixed up the numbers. It's US 93 (which I confused with our own SR 89 , formerly US 89, which joins it down here). It's 1,359 miles, but continues for another 366 miles through Canada. I misunderstood DW -- it's supposedly the longest N/S highway.

The loneliest road in America across Nevada would be US Highway 50.

The longest road to me was when I drove out to key west from islamorada one year for dinner…on the two lane sections it seemed I always ended up behind someone going 15 under the speed limit…I think God was trying to teach me some patience ….I’m a work in progress but I would love to get to the place in life where I casually have my arm out the window and just motor along without feeling like I’m behind schedule

This forum has been helping me towards that goal

Brings back memories, I was a Director of facilities and the Director of construction anmd I got the company to let us go to Key West for an "Offsite Meeting". We rented out the upstairs of Kelly McGillis bar and they brought in a big screen projection TV and we watched the Ravens beat the Giants for Super Bowl XXXV Champions. We flew into Miami,. rented two 15 passenger vans and thought I'd never want to see another causeway or bridge again. That was one loong drive but still better that driving across Kansas. JMHO

Couple of guys from the local bar bought a ticket package to that game….flew down with a group who all bought tickets from the same guy.

When they got there they had the choice to immediately get the game tickets or just pick them up before the game ..they chose to party first

When they went to get the tickets …they weren’t there…Apparently the guy that set up the trip resold the tickets for a higher price

They had to watch the game at a random bar in Miami…don’t know if they ever got there money back
Edit…bar in Tampa

I bet they never did that again. I have a picture with the game on that tv somewhere. I'll have to dig them up if I can remember. Time to call it for me, long day tomorrow. We're going to Cherrystone Family Camping Resort tomorrow and taking our 2 grand daughters with us.

Thanks! You enjoy the ocean as well. We'll just be "just south" of you down by the north entrance of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.

Last night was probably one of the best races I remember. Kyle Larson barely held off Donny Shatz to win the sprint car nationals. Despite being the hottest driver in NASCAR Larson says he prefers dirt racing. Apparently, because he teared up a bit in victory circle. It was a fine evening with the Australian anthem, Canadian anthem, American anthem and even a visit by the Budweiser Cydedales, who took a lap. I got a bit of a lump in my throat myself.
Sold out crowd of 22,000.
Scratch that one off my bucket list.

Hwy US80 from Tybee Island GA to US101 in San Diego, CA over 2600 miles. Even though west of Dallas,TX it is officially decommissioned but still used. As a US Hwy the government wanted to fund Interstates instead of interstate and a federal highway.
You want to see interstates or see America?

US 50 might be the loneliest, but it isn't the longest. I believe that title belongs to US 20, starting in Newport, OR and travelling 3365 miles to Boston, MA. Have been on it through OR, ID and small part of WY.
