I had them installed on mine. Mine are the same as you described. They just open against the cover as far as they can. Seems to be enough. They stay open until I close them. I sprayed some water up there and they still closed like they were supposed to.

We have three Maxairs and I went thru three sets of covers before I realized you just let the lid hit the cover and stop. Actually the second set I returned to the local dealer because CW had the same one on clearance at half price. I saw a test online that measured the air flow and the cover doesn't reduce it at all. As for the rain sensors ours will close occasionally if it's real windy and rainy but usually they stay open all the time.

Trying to decode all the differences, and marry them up to what I've got- mine's a new Fuzion 429, and I have no reason to think the fans are any different than OP's setup. I know the one in the kitchen functions different than the bathroom fans, so I'm thinking higher-power/Fantastic there? Am I thinking correctly that if I just get three of the Fanmate covers, I'll be good to go, or are the Maxx II covers more custom fit for the bathroom fans?

There is a difference in covers! The cheap ones you'll find at Walmart & other stores are just that, CHEAP! Pay more & get more! I really like & had good long life with the MaxxAir II covers, I had the smoke colored that also helped reduce the heat & bright light coming in, they even held up in a couple good (good as in pretty bad) hail storms.

Max Air vent covers work good with the factory small fans. Max Air II covers are needed with a max fan as they have a much larger screen area for better air flow. I would just put on the Max Air II and then if you upgrade your already 1/2 way there.

I agree with the MaxAir II covers. There are other, cheaper brands. Browse around and just take one of those cheap ones and inspect it closely then compare it to a MaxAir II. The build is quite a bit better. Put them on this trailer (and last) and they work fine with a Fantastic fan.

This is so true, got some Camco covers at an RV show, at three years they were brittle and I lost one in a wind storm. Now all are Maxair and six year warranty.

Best part of MaxAir II is they are hinged to allow access to the vent/lid for cleaning.

Ok- so the Maxxair II will work with pretty much anything, and I was leaning towards the bigger Maxxair Fanmate, with it's raked-back opening and larger sharkfin profile. Do those have the same build quality and install, or is there an anchor point difference with the Maxxair Fanmate?

Looking a picture of both the Fanmate and the MaxAir II, the II has more screen area.

I'm surprised to hear this. The FantasticFans we had in our 1998 rig both had a thermostat dial. You may want to check again.
