Onan Generators

General question about Onan generators that come with a rig from the factory...
How is it that these generators are "quiet" compared to say, the inverter type generators? Are they AS quiet, quieter, or noisier than the inverter types?
Of course, I know they are quieter than open frame generators.
And finally, how is it that a regular generator, such as the Onan type, can be quiet? What tech do they employ that makes them that way? I ask because I have an open frame generator and if I can duplicate how they make theirs quiet, I should be able to use the same techniques with mine.

quite enough to stand close by and talk without raising your voice and you cant hear it over the air conditioner running while laying bed right on top of it.

Onboard gens are built in a somewhat sealed box (for airflow) and then that assembly is in a box in a compartment. Add a long tailpipe for the exhaust and it’s easy to see why they are quieter.
