15000 btu a/c

We bought our 2011 Outback 5er, triple slide, 36ft, loaded as the model at a national RV show in Louisville 2+ years ago. The upgraded ac is good, but not perfect by a long shot. We keep the shades down all day in summer heat AND I close off the rear master BR and the front bunkhouse, leave the bathroom door open and go to the beach. Return to a cool spot and enjoy it. As soon as the sun drops down, I open whichever BR will be used first and then (usually) the master. Works pretty good.

I also bought those insulated inserts from Camping World which fit right into the skylights of the kitchen and front bunk house. We also run a small fan in the bunk house and really have not experienced uncomfortable sleeping.

HAVING SAID ALL THAT, recall my earlier point of closing off areas EARLY in the day. Also, run the ac from the beginning of the heat, like breakfast, as it is easier to maintain cool air, rather than run the ac and hope for the best!
If I were going to be in these HOT conditions a lot, I would DEFINITELY invest in a second ac. Mine is prewired. hey for a grand, problem can be resolved.

We have a 2012 High Country 299RKS and love it. It just feels like home. We have 10,000 miles on it already. We have only had minor problems with it like the Jensen entertainment center kept coming on by itself. While dry camping for 4 days in the Grand Tetons, I pulled it out and removed the fuse to keep it from using up the battery. It has now been replaced under warranty so we'll see how that goes.
We replaced the Group 24 battery with a Group 27, plus have changed most of the interior lights to LED. I credit those two changes for the battery lasting 4 days without a generator.
Although we have non-skid liners in our pantry, cans and jars tended to be a mess at our destination. We bought some small flexible storage baskets (like small laundry baskets) and put everything in those and they stay in place. Our coffee maker and toast travel at the back of a shelf with the baskets in front and no problems.
I also use that small outside storage at the rear for tools, a jumper battery, outside extension cords and a small electric leaf blower for cleaning the awning and slider tops. The slider tops are accessed with a 15' telescoping ladder like you see at Camping World, but I got mine at Amazon for half the CW price.

In regards to AC, ours is a 13,500 and I was really concerned about spending a week in Albuquerque this June. Our fears seem founded when our trailer went up to 89 inside with temps of 105 outside. I googled RV AC efficiency and everyone said to clean the filter so I removed it and vacuumed it. While putting it back, I saw a set of closed vents right next to the intake. I opened it and was hit by a blast of cold air directly down into the living room. We thought we only had the ducted vents. So when we got up in the morning we opened it and it didn't go over 82 which isn't bad with a fan running. Towards bed time, we closed that one to push more air to the bedroom where we have a fan on the dresser at the foot of the bed. With just a sheet, we were comfortable.
Thermal pane windows would have been really helpful there.
We also got a small portable electric fireplace to reduce propane use. It has a 700 and 1500 watt setting and we will probably only use the lower setting.

The first couple of nights we were out in our new Cougar fiver with the Jensen entertainment center, the radio came on in the middle of the night. I finally figured it out . . . the system has a radio alarm that was set for 2 am. It was an easy fix, once we figured out the radio settings. Don't know if this is what made your system come on by itself.

We have storage containers to keep things from scooting all over the cupboards too. Works well and makes it easy to load and unload supplies, when needed.

Fun times, RV'n, huh?

Actually, this is a known problem with the Jensen AWM970 and many have been replaced. Jensen had a rep on the Heartland forum helping folks out including reset instructions. The reset worked for a few days, but each reset worked for declining periods of time until not at all. An alarm was the first thing I thought of and checked for.
Fun times though!

I'm glad ours was just the alarm

After 15 months and 10,000 miles, we are having a couple of issues. The entrance step has a crack in it and sags badly when you step on the bottom step. Pete's RV in Burlington, VT has stepped up and got Keystone to send a new one for free. And we haven't told Pete's yet because the problem is brand new, our living room slide out snags something about 2/3 of the way out and stops. It is a cable system and I imagine it needs adjustment. I would do it myself if I knew how.
Pete's has been good about getting Keystone to fix things that didn't show up until after the warranty expired, but were obviously there since manufactured.
One of those was the outside lower "rear quarter panel" start coming off while we were halfway across country. I borrowed a drill and put a screw in it to keep it from coming off. Two of the 3 screws that were supposed to hold it on had barely nicked the edge of the sheet metal and pulled away from road vibration.
Stair replacement is scheduled for Sept 13 just before our next trip so we will notify them of the slider issue now.
