New 2014 230BHS, should fibreglass be bubbled?
Just bought this new from a local dealer yesterday upgrading from an aluminum skinned tent trailer. The small GMC SUV at the house will not handle as this trailer has a 7000 lb GVW, the F350 gets trailer duty from now on.
Now that this is off the lot, at home loading "stuff" have noticed about 12 square inches of what appears to be delamination at the side of the front cap in 2 separate but close by "bubbles".
Dealer says this is probably due to warm weather. It is sunny 32C weather today. I am new to fiberglass trailers and am concerned as this was not noticeable 3 weeks ago when the trailer was picked out with the weather just as warm. Is this normal? Trailer build date was June 2013, has not been used yet.

I would not care what they say. It just looks bad. I don't have any area like that on mine so I would say that it is a possible issue.
my 2 cents

I would say they are fixing that. Good luck and hopefully you will not miss out on camping.

By all means, insist that it be fixed and fixed properly. That is delimitation, plain and simple, and it will only get worse. It is a manufacturing defect.

Definitely delamination. It is unfortunate that you did not notice this before you signed the papers. If not was me, I would take it back and demand another trailer.
There have been reports of heat causing expansion and delamination on the soft cap models. When it cools down it may contract and the bubbling disappear, but will come back when hot again. It also could be caused by water infiltration. Bottom line it is a defect and I would not accept it.
Good luck.

to the forum and to Keystone RVing. The picture you posted appears to be one of two things. It's either delamination (which the dealer should repair, probably by replacing the front skin) or it's a manufacturing defect in the filon (clumps of fiberglass that somehow got under the top surface during the manufacturing process). Either way, it should be repaired and if the dealership doesn't address it with Keystone, I'd urge you to contact Keystone customer support with the picture. If possible, let the dealer handle it, but if he refuses, then get in touch with Keystone.
Again, welcome and we're glad to have you as a new member. Enjoy your time on the forum.

Dealer has ordered in a new front cap for replacement. They claim it is not difficult to replace?

My 2013 246rbs had a water leak in the front cap/roof seam. They are replacing the interior wall and for some reason wanted to replace the front cap as well. They must have issues with these. Also got a recall kit for the roof seam. Here again they must have a lot of issues that are cropping up.

Looking at your picture I would say delamination for sure.
When picking up our new Cougar last fall, after the walk through I was hooking up and noticed what looked like bubbles under the decal on the front cap. I climbed up and felt them, bubbles in the glass not in the decal. The walk through rep said "glad you saw those, I'll go get my camera and submit a claim for warranty work to Keystone. At home a couple days later I noticed several small (golf ball size) bubbles down low on the back cap. I called the Rep and he said email some pictures which I did. Two days later I got a call from the Rep saying Keystone had approved the repairs and new front and rear end caps were on the way. We scheduled a date for replacement and the work was done within 2 days and we have never looked back. Good service and good representation.
