Water softener for rv

I could not stand the options available, small sizes, questionable resin, and manual regeneration. Here is my solution. The same thing you would have at your house only a much smaller scale. Water goes in and out and the drain is hooked up to the slinky. If needed the unit will stay hooked up, meter the water, and regenerate when needed. The system utilizes the clack WS-1 valve, full flow with a 1” distributor to minimize pressure loss. No more spots. Water heater protection and we fill out tank with it so when boondocking we have the soft water. Cons: my wife cannot lift it. But it’s not bad for me with 10lbs of salt in the brine chamber.

Your camper doesn't look like it is parked in Boerne. That water softener wouldn't do well if you have a freeze; what do you do if temps drop? Are you full timing?

We don’t typically camp when it’s freezing. If we do get in a freeze I think that easiest option would be to move the softener back inside and wrap my hose as best I can.

Yes and no. You can leave it plugged into any 120v source. If you cannot have it plugged in all the time you just need to plug in to let it regenerate. The only thing it will not do without power is monitor water usage which means you have to regenerate when you think it needs it.
