One consideration when using a "small" generator (800 - 1200 watts) to power an RV is that the converter will draw up to 12 amps (1380 watts) if the battery is nearly dead and needs to be charged. So, in that situation, if you want to power your RV with a small generator and it keeps tripping the circuit breaker on the generator, disconnect your battery and you should be able to run your lights, etc on the generator.
Of course, if you're using a generator with an output of 1500 watts or higher, this usually won't be a problem, it's just with the smaller generators.
