Microwave dead, then ok...?

Ran on generator (1600W running, 2000W surge) last night for the 1st time. Didn't think to turn off the heater before using the microwave. Microwave is rated at 1350W input power. Started microwave and it ran about 5 seconds before the heater fan came on and the microwave went dead. Genny showed an overload, and I pressed a reset button, but microwave was still dead. turned the microwave breaker off and on, no joy. Left the breaker off a while, and still no joy.

Turned off genny at bedtime, ran on batteries overnight, restarted genny in the morning for coffee. Microwave was back on.

Just curious what happened here and how to reset the microwave properly if we should make such a silly newby mistake again?

You probably tripped the circuit breaker on the generator. All the inverter generators that I've seen, you must shut the generator down before the circuit breaker will reset, so if you left the generator running, reset the breaker and didn't have power out of it, then it's like most (safety device). By turning the generator off last night, then restarting this morning, the generator circuit breaker was able to be reset and power out was re-established to the trailer.
