Let’s not be an alarmist. Mold is a potential irritant to some people. In others it doesn’t cause any issues. Surface molds like the one described are almost always a derivative of penicillium aspergillus (and like it sounds, is in the same family as penicillin). The fabled toxic black mold
stachybotrus chartarum is almost exclusively found in chronically wet/damp hidden areas with no air movement.
Isopropyl alcohol is a much more effective and safe means to remove mold. Put it in a spray bottle, mist the affected areas and wipe with a clean paper towel replacing the paper towel often.
