Generator

Does generator have separate battery? Killed trailer battery and generator would not start. Kinda pointless I thought.

Usually generator start connected to trailer batteries. Can be wired to separate battery and configured to be charged from truck/converter. Type trailer?

Smile battery

On mine 2013 Fuzion 395 it is no, learned a long time ago to have a separate battery that is not tied to anything on the trailer except the generator, I like to do dry camping and sometimes I would loose house batteries and would have to recharge them, just start up generator and the system start to charge, a quick way to keep the generator battery charges would to add a battery tender for charging from the 110vac side, for generator do not have a charging system for 12vdc. PS a gel battery may be on the inside of trailer because it is a non vented battery

Honda Generator with Starter Battery

My Honda generator has a separate battery installed for the electric start.

I use a battery tender to keep the generator battery charged.

However, the generator does charge its own battery when the generator is running.

I had a second battery and an isolater installed just for this reason. Cost was about $100 for both items and labor.
