environmental protection package

Just bought 2014 28SGS 5th wheel from Camping World and they recommend Envirinmental Protection Package for $995. They say it protects paint from oxidation and fading, also protects carpet and fabrics. Has anybody experince with this product and it worth the expense?

Just a new name for an old gimmick. Save your money. You can do a lot of camping with that $1000. JM2˘, Hank

It is a RIP OFF they spray something on the fabric and carpeting that cost them about $5.00 and spray wax the RV. Total cost to the Dealer parts and labor is about $75.00.That is what I charged out on the prep order at the Car Dealership. Most Car/Truck,RV and Boat Dealerships make more money on the up sale with the Finance Manager than the actual sale of the vehicle.

Paint protection

I highly recommend the exterior paint protection; it eliminates the need for waxing. It really works, after four years the fiberglass looks and feels brand new!!

Save your money. Just start every season with a really good coat of wax. I'd they warranty your decals forever then maybe. New decals will cost you more than that.

I worked in an auto dealership for many years. This type of protection package and extended warranties are not worth the money. You can get the same type of protection for paint, carpet, etc. with products that can be purchased at a local auto parts store.

The exterior coating is actually a sealant (a little different than wax). They use the same stuff in the auto industry, but just like wax sealant breaks down. A good quality carnauba wax will last about 3 months, a sealant will last about 6 months, there are also coatings that are more durable and will last up to a year. Some people complain that coatings will leave a cloudy appearance on some colors. You are better off using a good quality sealant twice a year, pinnacle XMT 360 is what I use (name is a coincidence, has nothing to do with Jayco). A dual action (DA) polisher and foam pads to keep the exterior looking new. There are a lot of places that sell DA kits for under $200, Autogeek is just one that I know of off the top of my head. The Porter Cable is a very safe entry level machine, easy to use by anybody and impossible to cause damage with. You could also pay somebody $300 twice a year to apply a sealant/wax to your RV, but I'd rather do it myself over a weekend.

As for the interior..Scotchgard
