Cougar half ton travel trailers

Are Cougar travel trailers better built than Bullit travel trailers? I am looking at trading a Bullit 17.5 for a Cougar 22MLS 2021 model.

Bullet and Cougar are both brands under the Keystone banner. They are built about the same. The only exception is, the Cougar fifth wheel is probably a stronger built camper over the Bullet travel trailer, simply because the fifth wheel frame design is built stronger. And the fifth wheel will always cost you more.

The 5th wheels will cost more & most likely WILL NOT be 1/2 ton towable due to heavy pin weights & low truck payloads, so you'll need to do some serious ciphering BEFORE purchasing.
DO NOT get your numbers from on line specs, brochures or literature & absolutely NOTHING regarding weights and towability that ANY salesman says. Use the numbers posted on the driver's door post of YOUR truck & the GVWR posted on the rv you've chosen.

The Keystone website shows the Bullet to be a "Comfort" level TT or the lower entry level model. The mid models are called "Premium" and the Cougar falls into the top tier or "Luxury" class of TTs. It will be better built and have nicer amenities.

OK, gurus on all things Keystone! Comfort, Luxury, etc. This is fairly new with these tags Are these labels defined or otherwise identified? Is my old 2002 Cougar a "luxury" camper? I know Montana and Alpine lines are higher end and they are also tagged as "Luxury". Half Ton Towable (and now 3/4 Ton Towable) are bad enough.

Keystone has been classifying their trailers by "price range/features" for at least the last 10 years. Back in 2009, it was "entry level, standard level, premium level". Then around 2013 or so, it became "Standard, premium and luxury", then around 2019 it changed again to "Comfort, premium and luxury".

They keep changing the categories, but the trailers are essentially the same as they've always been. The entry level trailers are wood frame, spun glass insulation with minimal options. The mid level are aluminum frame, laminated walls with upgrade appliances, larger refrigerators and nicer finishing/cabinetry and more optional, added cost features. The top level has most of the "mid level features, better trim, heavier carpeting/vinyl flooring, fancier cabinetry and most of the "mid level options" are standard equipment with even more "high cost options" available to the "discriminating buyer"....

If you want to know where a specific trailer brand sits in the "Keystone line", take the MSRP and divide by the trailer length. That will give a "cost per foot". Do that with two or three Keystone brands and the "price lineup" begins to become much clearer. It's fairly easy to determine where Laredo fits in comparison to Sprinter, Premier, Bullet and Cougar by comparing the "cost per foot".

It's sort of like the "porcine lineup"... You get the pig, lipstick on the pig and the silk purse made from the pig....

George, I think mine classified as "old" and yours is "older". I think yours is propbably like mine in the class of "paid for".
