tires off ground when auto leveling

Hi. We brought our new cougar 32bhs home yesterday and parked in driveway and wanted to show it to friends so we did the auto level and it lifted the tires off the ground. Is this normal? Is this ok to keep the trailer with the wheels off the ground?

Hi Stephmom,
Were all the wheels off the ground?
If the trailer is not on even ground it is normal for a wheel or two to come off the ground.
That usually happens if the trailer is uneven from side to side or front to back.
Youtube has some videos on the subject as well.
Good luck

Before you pushed the auto level button did you lower the front end after disconnecting from truck?

We did lower the front but did not lower the back prior to doing the auto level

I would try lowering both ends of the trailer (raising legs) until the tires are on the ground. Use the manual button on the ground control panel. once the trailer looks like it's sitting normally and somewhat level, hit the auto level button and see what happens.
Definitely go over the manual for your ground control (3.0 ?)

Is your driveway unusually steep? This is not normal to lift all wheels. If so, have you tried it on level ground.

If all tires are off the ground there's a problem. Typically only one side would be off the ground due to the slope. At this point you would put blocks under the wheels that have lifted.

If you have a severe dip in the space then all wheels could come off the ground.

Your system should have been calibrated on level ground prior to shipment but you should perform calibration just to be sure.

My system was totally inconsistent leveling differently in the same spot. After a lot of troubleshooting we found that they used too large of a screw on the sensors breaking the mounts and they were just hanging.

I would find a level parking lot and see how it acts.

Stephmom, when setting up in different Rv parks having one side or the other off the ground is not uncommon. No further action is required. It is s normal situation.

The trailer needs to be a bit nose high before starting the auto level for it to work properly.
I suggest you raise the rear jacks and visually level front to back, then raise the front a bit and run the auto level. I think you will find better results.

Actually the only feature that requires a nose high attitude before starting auto level is hitch height recognition.

When trouble shooting auto level issues I will often times start auto level nose extra high and extra low.

Hope you did a zero point calibration after manually leveling.. it should never have all four tires off the ground.. In seven years of camping everywhere I've never leveled and had any tire off the ground with my six point level up
