Awning retract issue

Hey all, first post about our 2015 Passport. The Lippert electric awning doesn’t fully retract on the motor side; it is still a few inches away from the camper side. I’ve done some searching and came up with the awning material may be offset causing it to roll up crocked. I measured and the awning is in fact centered. I can push on the arm and it can be pushed in all the way, it just doesn’t stay in. I also tried manually cranking it to see if that would suck it the rest of the way in but still nothing. The only other thing I can think of is the support arm for the strut appears to be slightly bowed, like the strut is pushing it with to much force in the middle. I’m wondering if I should try swapping the struts on both sides and straightening the arm back out. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance for any help. Sorry for the sideways pictures, not sure why they pulled in that way.

It may be the angle that you took the photo, but it sure looks like the inner drive arm (the top arm with the gas strut attached toward the middle) is bent. That arm should be straight, as it folds into the vertical support that's mounted on the trailer sidewall.

I'd suspect either you had/have a bad gas strut that won't close properly and bent the arm or you've had something heavy on the awning (rain/water or something pulling on the roller tube).

You might be able to straighten the arm, but I'd suspect it will bend again either from the gas strut pressure or from weak metal from being bent/straightened.

It's the item marked "inner arm" in the pdf file located here: https://lci-support-doc.s3.amazonaws...cd_0001550.pdf

That arm does look bent. Since you have the style that you pull down the “elbow joint” to change the pitch, I have to ask:

Did you attempt to put it back straight before retracting the awning? If you did and were told to by someone, it’s wrong advice. It will straighten when you retract, and one possible result is what you see.

Just a thought..YMMV

Yes, That arm is slightly bent compared to the other side. That was my next step to see about replacement. We just bought the camper and noticed it when we were ready to pull it home after paperwork was already signed and paid (awning was out while looking at it). Where can I buy just that arm? Looking on LCI website I only see a complete side replacement with all the arms and everything for like $700.

Try here if it’s a “solera”

I did see those Chuck; that is the complete arms assembly; hoping I can find just the one inner-arm part I need.
