Have you read Goliath-goes replys?
The 5er is triple axle TH, 900# bike in the rear, triple axle pin's run about 17%, so .17 X 17000 = 2,890# should be fine on a F350 SRW.

Grey Water tank: 78 Gal

It is bunkhouse model and supposed to sleep up to 6 persons.

The cargo carrying capacity(CCC) is GVWR-UVW: 1900 lbs, which is too small for a family of 6 persons full time living, e.g. 4 adults and 2 kids.

62 gal fresh water is 62*8.3, about 500 lbs.
Grey/waster tanks: assume half empty 500 lbs
6 persons: e.g. 800 lbs.
Food: 200 lbs
Cooking utensils: 100 lbs
Clothing: 50 lbs * 6 = 300 lbs
Propane: 60 lbs
Portable washer: 50 lbs
Misc: 200 lbs

the CCC of 1900 lbs is just too small. Is there a way to increase CCC to about 3000 lbs? Thanks.
I am a little late to this thread, but I have read through several times and the question I am reading is about the CCC of the RV itself not the truck, but every response is about the truck not the actual original question?

So to be clear, the trailer cargo capacity is the dead load (weight of inanimate objects as you are moving down the road). The live weight is the weight of liquid in the tanks during use, the weight of people, pets, etc. the original question adds all of this together instead of looking at them separately.

The simple answer to the original question is that there is no need to increase the cargo capacity of the trailer because driving down the road, you have no people, pets or full tanks (most of the time). Subtract those items and you have ample “static” capacity. Set up at a campsite, you are not carrying “cargo” any longer, you are using the trailer as it is intended and I have never seen or heard of a weight capacity associated with it. The trailer is fine.

The truck on the other hand is a different story. 6 people, their gear and the pin weight of the 5er is going to blow away the capacity of the truck. You need a 3/4 ton at a minimum.

Goliath your 381 has a empty pin weight of almost 3400lbs and having 3 axles makes no difference, you need to check you tag on your truck what I see for your f35 is less than 2000lb payload. I’m a retired truck driver also.

I know how to knock off 50 pounds, no dishwasher.
Also you will not travel with a full water tank and you will
empty your grey and black tanks before traveling.

What truck have you found that seats 6 (and I assume there
are one or two car seats which take up more room).

If you want to stay in National Parks very few have full hookups
so the dishwasher would be useless.

I wish the OP the best in his hunt for a RV for his family of 6,
but small is not going to cut it.

Tubby, your quote "what I see for your f35 is less than 2000lb payload. If for license/taxation reasons the F350 was ordered as a 10K GVW, highly unlikely, you might be at least closer to being in the ballpark.

Russ, the toy hauler he has comes from the factory new at better than 3300 pounds dry pin weight. His F350 at 11,300, probably giving him about a 3200 pound cargo capacity, depending of course. Ignore the bike in the back. It is only going to factor in about 100-125 pound, not a nickel more. By the time he's ready to roll, I'll bet he's over by 800 pounds or better.

Gosh! Will we get into another truck driver thread? They are a lot more interesting than the tire threads for sure. And you are correct... the most guzzied up F350 with 4x4 and crew cab and diesel, etc. is still north of 3K payload. I AM SURE and I never was a truck driver but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express once.
