Beware of your rear end

As you can tell with the temp tags on my rig I haven't had it long. And I've parked in the same spot with my previous alpine 100's of times. But this time I must have gotten closer to the fence and the rear end kicked out close enough the catch a wooden fence post. I almost puked on the spot. Just be careful out there!

Has anyone had a fiberglass rear panel like this repaired? I love the full body paint but I'm sure this will add to $'s in cost of repair.

I hate it when this kind of thing happens. Keep us up to date on the repair process. Good luck.

Thanks. I will. I taped plastic over it to keep any rain we may get out of it. Adjuster should contact me in the next day or so to come look at it. I have contacted my dealer to see if they will be able to make the repairs. Should know that by tomorrow.

They did say they prefer to repair the fiberglass caps rather than order and ship new caps. Not sure how I feel about that.

My brother clipped a pole when turning out from some gas pumps very soon after he purchased a new class A. Very similar damage to your photos. A body shop in Reno took the entire rear cap off, repaired it, and re-installed/re-painted it. I was amazed at how well they matched it. Never would have known had he not pointed it out.

Sorry to hear that this happened to you. I would want to just sink into a hole after seeing that. Best of luck with the process of getting it rectified. Accidents do happen...

Friend of mine hit a small steel post at the gas station. Estimate of a little less than 15K to repair. They have to get a whole new rear panel. His is a 2016 Grand Design Solitude.

I would have never thought a wooden fence post would cause such damage. Thanks for having the fortitude to post the pics. I will be far less complacent next time we travel.

It was a square post and best I can tell the corner of the post caught the trim edge just ever so perfectly

Beware of your rear end

My damage was not as severe. Waiting for winter for repairs.

I feel bad for you man. This stuff is always in the back of my mind. this weekend some dude was helping me back in to a tight spot. His directions were horrific and he kept ask why I was backing in so slow. LOL, this is why. I am sure you will be as good as new but feel for you buddy.

One more tool into the 5er ~~ a chainsaw for pesky trees and posts... Good luck with repairs! Would not have happened 2 months ago with the previous unit!

I park close to a retaining wall. After bending a stabilizer jack pulling out, I now use a spotter.
