Where did the water come from

Went camping this last weekend. It rained very hard and lots of it. Over 4 inches. Lots of hard driving rain. When we got up there was water on the floor under the Air conditioner in ceiling. There is no signs in the ceiling that the water came thru around air unit. Is there any way the rain could have got blown in and came thru the unit where the air return is or the air out let is. Just wondering. I am really concerned about this. If roof is leaking I am in trouble. Haven't had time to closely inspect around air conditioner. Where should I start. Help.

Its more than likely condensation, we get it on occasion when the humidity is really high and the wife turns the A/C to Zero..

That is a thought. There was about a pint of water on the floor. It was soaked up by a rug. Thanks

As a precaution, you might climb up on the roof and check the gasket and the sealant around the A/C. Over time, the gasket becomes compressed and brittle with the weight of the A/C and doesn't form a watertight bond. I see your unit is an '2010 so it might be time to take a look at it and have it replaced.

My A/C on our Montana is really bad for condensation if I don't open the main vent on the bottom.
I usually try to keep it closed as to not get that roar you get from the air blowing straight down.
Wife saw it on the 3rd trip out and freaked out. Thought something was really wrong. I opened the vent and wiped it down where condensation had collected and never had another issue with it.

We have had condensation dripping from time to time. Also, is it is raining real hard and we tow at 60 mph or so, we end up with water once in awhile coming in through the AC. I don't think of it as a leak but more wind blown. It will happen.

Take the inside cover off the AC. Check the 4 bolts that hold the unit in place. They tend to loosen up and then the gasket between the exterior AC unit and roof will leak. Do not over tighten. Just snug them up to make a good seal with the gasket. Could need a new gasket but many times this does the trick.

At times, when the air is filled with humidity and the temperature is near the dew point, turning on the A/C will cause the plastic ceiling fixture to chill down just enough to condense the moisture out of the air (Think a glass of iced tea on a humid summer day). That will often also happen on the inside of the ceiling unit and a puddle will form that can drip through the air vents. Many times turning the A/C to a slightly warmer temperature will be enough to disperse the puddle and then the A/C can "dry" the air while moving it across the evaporator. An air leak between the "warm air return" and the "cold air discharge" can (and usually will) make the problem worse. I'd remove the ceiling fixture, check the foam tape separation between the two sections and use aluminum duct tape (not cloth duck tape) to carefully seal any air leaks that you can see or feel.

Many times you can also see the humidity condense on the ceiling where the A/C ductwork runs. There's almost no insulation under the ducting, so it chills the ceiling luan causing the condensation.

Ok update on water. It rained today like cats and dogs with wind just like the other nite. Good news no water on floor. Must have been condensation. It was very humid and the dew point was very high.
On another note. I will check the bolts that hold it to the roof. Thanks again for all the reply's. I just love this forum.

A collaboration of problems and solutions, yes, I agree it is quite a place.

Sounds like youre sorted, which is good. But, just in case, another common leak issue is the O-ring on antenna (if you have one that cranks up and rotates). Those antennas have to be routinely lubricated, otherwise the O-ring gets dry and then you get water into your roof, which then looks for the easiest path, which can end up being around your air unit (depending on what's where, pitch of trailer, etc)
