Cougar Xlite 26SAB

Good Evening; Anybody have a newer Cougar Xlite 26SAB.
DW & I are seriously considering ordering a 26SAB. Looked at one back in September and DW was hooked. Now we can not remember the design around the bed in the bedroom. Know there are cabinets beside the bed on the front wall and a slide out wardrobe. Can't remember how the floor is around the bed. Is it flat with the rise 1/2 or 1/4 the way down from the head of the bed or is it raised up from the end of the bed to the cabinet, like the 28SGS has? DW was wondering .

Thank you
Milo

If you go to the Keystone website (www.keystonerv.com), you can check out the floor plan of the Cougar xlite 26SAB 5th wheel. It will give you some indication about the layout.

We have one and you step up at the end of the bed and it is flat from there to the closets beside the front of the bed.

We have a 2014 XLite 27RKS. The only difference in the bedroom is the slide is on the opposing side. There are differences in the hallway/linen closet, but that's not in the bedroom. Our bed is on a platform that goes from side to side at the foot of the bed. So, you step up onto the platform at the foot of the bed and the entire sides of the bed are higher than the floor at the bathroom wall. There is about 24" between the foot of the bed and that wall. Headroom there is about 6'4". Headroom along the sides of the bed is about 9" less.

If your question is related to, "Do I have to step up and bend over to get in bed" the answer is, "Yes you do, along the entire sides of the bed."

We were considering the 26SAB, but the reasons we considered against it were the location of the closet slide which made for a very short awning and the placement of the door directly in front of the rocker chair. Anyone sitting there must get up (or move their feet) for anyone to get into or out of the trailer. Also, TV viewing from that chair is difficult if anyone is working at the kitchen sink. (We had the last two problems with our Springdale 242)

26sab

We have a 2013 26 sab. The step up is at the end of the bed. Positives. Pulls great. Good outside storage. We would probably look at a little differant floor plan. Can't get into bed room with wardrobe slide in [door will not open} Small Awning. No light switch's, and I do mean none, not even at the entry door and the wife can not reach the control box where the switch's are. I know this was more than you were asking but now is the time to find out.

I don't intend to "pick apart" someone else's choice in an RV, but to add to the list that limit4 posted, if you look at the position of the entry door in relation to the grill "swing arm" rack which is mounted on the rear curbside of the trailer, if a child (or clumsy adult) were to happen to slip while entering/exiting the trailer and the grill were in use, there's a good chance of falling into the hot grill. This is true with any "rear door RV" that has the grill arm mounted in that location. It may never happen, but to be miles from emergency help and to have someone fall into a "mis-located grill"

Thanks for all the replies. Just as we thought. The floor is raised up around the bed. DW stood on one in a similar 5er and had maybe a 2 " clearance with the ceiling.

JRTJH ... Our TT we've had to the last 7 1/2 years is a rear living and has a rocker in the same place by the entry door and it hasn't been a problem, in fact never thought about somebody sitting there being in the way. Not going to get the grill mount on that back corner, if it comes with it will have it removed.

Limit 4 ... The TT is the same way. 3 light switches on the wall for the porch light & 2 docking lights. The rest of the lights inside have off-on switches in the fixtures .. so also not a problem.

Thanks guys
Milo

We've got a 2012 26SAB. You're right on about the floor on the side of the bed. It is elevated from the end of the bed to the closet.

We selected this floor plan because the DW wanted a large rear window. I think the weight distribution is better with the kitchen in the middle as opposed to the rear. I've also heard that your glassware and other kitchen breakables can take a beating in the rear kitchen since the cabinets are so far behind the axles.

We love ours! Good luck.
