If by "out back" you are talking about the upper bedroom area, then the problem about not much heat in that area is not all that uncommon.

Causes of this issue may be: 1) kinks in the heat duct 2) obstructions- construction debris, etc 3) loose connections along the ductwork 4) furnace plenum/cutouts problem (open cutouts allowing heat to escape through too many openings).

I'd check all along the ductwork and see if there are any kinks or 90 degree bends that can be eliminated or reduced. Look into using something other than the flimsy "drier" type ducts -- flexible or rigid aluminium instead. Shine a flashlight into the ductwork to see if anything has been left behind. Try vacuuming it out. Have a look at your furnace and see if there are any unused or spare cutouts that have accidentally worked loose resulting in hot air being sent into the empty space around your furnace.

Try installing adjustable louvered vents in the floors so that they can be opened or shut off depending upon where you want more or less heat.

I've not had any issues with my 280RLS. Heat seems to be pretty even throughout all the floor vents.
