cleaning that nasty rv

our rig is 65 feet with the freightliner. I wash them once a year. my cleaner of choice is simple green. why you ask. a few years ago we went to key west. the truck had a major oil leak behind the air pump. we just fed er oil 1 gallon per 200 miles worth. needless to say the toy hauler was nasty and oily. I do not use acidic or basic (bleach)cleaners so I chose simple green. mix it 50/50 with water in a pump sprayer and also mix some in a bucket with a brush. spray it as it starts running down hit it with the brush and rinse. after I did this to my oil soaked rv it looked like new. I love the fact that I can and after washing the rig I do bathe in simple green and I don't walk away with peeling skin from this feat.

Simple Green

That stuff is the greatest cleaner for just about anything. We even used it for cleaning aluminum marks off the whitewater raft. It cleans the outside of the trailer, the awnings, the stove, etc., etc., and it's cheap!

i keep mine inside

I haven't waxed mine. the simple green isn't caustic like bleach (a basic) or acid. my rv shines like new money when I clean it. the other types can make the fiberglass chalky over time. it also helps that I keep my rv inside out of the sun. of course if you leave it out you might want to wax it. I believe a rv like a boat will last years if not decades longer by protecting it from the sun.

Haven't used Simple Green on anything with a finish, but use it on Galaxie engine and in my parts washer. Great stuff for that.

Just finished giving all our decals a treatment of Aerospace 303 and the front cap a good going over with Nu Finish.

Headed east Sunday.

Just finished scrubbing the roof with dawn and a medium bristle brush - let it dry then rubbed in a good coat of 303 - tomorrow we'll do the sidewalls with McQuires car shampoo and then 303 - bit of a work-out but she'll shine like new!

there is an advantage to covering a rv

if mine stayed out doors I would have to do that. I wash the whole thing in simple green. the manufacturer recommends just washing the roof, no need for those rv sealers camping world wants to sell.
the aerospace 303 looks like some good stuff I will get some and try it out. as for the finish if simple green wont dissolve my skin while washing this monster I don't think it will hurt gel coatings. lol

I vaguely recall Charleston Heston saying something about Simple Green being made of people...
