I also added an inexpensive irrigation system backflow preventer at my Y fitting that I bought at home depot. This is to make sure there are no contamination issues back to my fresh water connection. Just cheap insurance to help keep the fresh water hose connection clean.

The back water preventer that I installed will not let water come back. I have never had a problem. I sometimes use the hot water valve and pump hot water into the black water tank to clean it out. It works for me

I agree on the pressures. It’s not the Pex pressure limits so much but the manf connections I don’t trust.
RV Pex tubing is usually 1/2” throughout and the black tank flush has a back-flow valve in the line which restricts water volume and pressure both, so back flush isn’t the powerful water wash many imagine.
Multi jetted high pressure nozzles would be the only way to break up debris in a black tank.

I've caught some flak from some on the Cougar owners Facebook page but here's the procedure and gear I use to flush my tank. I have a Y connector on the faucet, then my hose, shutoff valve, inline water meter, and a 90 degree elbow. I connect everything, including the sewer hose with a clear 45 degree on the trailer outlet and a clear 90 degree on the hose outlet, and dump the black tank. Once I see nothing is flowing from the tank drain at the gate valve. I close the gate. I know my tank capacity is 38 gallons. I then turn on the flush and add 15-20 gallons to the tank and shut off the flush. Open the gate valve. When the flow is down to a trickle, leave the gate valve open and turn on the flush for another 10 gallons. Close the gate valve and add another 25 gallons to the tank. Shut off the flush and open the gate valve again. By this point I usually have nothing but clear water flowing from the tank. Dump my gray tanks, disconnect my hose from my shut off valve and use it to rinse out the slinky hose. Stow everything, add a scoop of Happy Camper to the toilet bowl along with 2-3 bowlfuls of fresh water. We're set to go out for the next trip. I also added an additional twist on gate valve to my drain so I have a secondary point to close off the tank drain.

In my Keystone Alpine 3536RE I have the tank flush system. To use it hook up a water hose to the inlet of the tank flush system and turn on the water with the drain valve open. That easy.

Bandit, I would never try to dissuade you from your routine, but just reading it wore me out. The average camper is going to walk away with that system running and 'do something for just a minute' while it fills. Lessons will be learned. But it is way, way too, too, what's the word I'm looking for? Anal it is,
for the every-day RV'er. The common camper should never close the black tank valve while using the black or grey tank rinse.

Anal is good, unless its coupled with ADHD. Then, not so much.

Check lists are handy, especially when you get a little older. Butt I draw the line at using a flow chart to dump my tank. Mispelling and puns intended.

I have my flush hooked up to my outside shower also. I have 2 backflow valves, replaced the one under the bathroom sink with a better one and also have one on the hose from the shower. I always disconnect the hose to relieve the pressure, the water in the line before the inside backflow valve comes out. That is because that is about 2 feet higher then the tank itself.
