Just want to say "Thank-you"....

To all those fellow campers this year who are turning off their outside lights when they retire at night.

We've been "out" a lot this year, starting in January, and we've done a mix of camping between private campgrounds and State Parks. This year seems to be kind of "weird" (in a good way), because I've really noticed folks are leaving lights off at night.

We go to bed early (Like 10:00 pm or before) because of our work schedules and that's just the way our biological clocks are conditioned right now. But, we have 2 little doggies that need to go "potty" at night, sometimes 2 or 3 times a night. They are very good at waking (me) up and I"ll take them out. That's when I really notice the light pollution. I love the dark, the darker the better, so when folks leave their light on, I take notice. I don't get mad or anything, don't get me wrong. I just don't understand why.

In the past, especially when the front cap LED lights started hitting the RV market, seems everyone thought leaving those lights on all night was the greatest thing since Grandma Moses. When in reality, all it did was glair light to the campsite across the road.

Some campsites are lit up like the Las Vegas strip on the 4th of July!

Don't get me wrong though. I am as guilty as the next person. In our younger days, we also put the carnival show up everywhere we went. We thought it was so cool, so great, so amazing, so outstanding, so different, we wanted to show off to the whole world. But as time went on, the older we got, the more WORK it became putting up all those lights, taking them down, and then storing them. Oh, that became old. In fact, we got so lazy over this, the only light we have now outside is the one controlled by the light switch inside the camper. Too much work for us now.

But, I don't want to ruin anyone else's fun either. I've never complained to anyone about lights at night, but I prefer complete dark, personally. When given the chance, I throw my 2 cents in on Forums, and I guess all I'm asking is ..... please turn off the light when you go to bed.

So, this year, 2021, wow! What happened. Are we just camping at the right spots at the right time with the right combination of neighbor campers, because this has been a very dark year at night!

Thank-you one and all for your thoughtfulness! You all have given me a very pleasurable year of camping so for!
