Ultra Lite Roof Sheathing

I have a 2009 Ultra Lite 189ML. Does anyone know the roof sheathing material and thickness? While checking seals I found a tear in the roof and some associated roof sheathing rot, would like to replace the material apply a new EDPM membrane. Also, I assume this is a “non-walkable” roof (I was on my hands and knees checking the seals). Can anyone confirm?

Your roof sheathing is probably 1/8 or 1/4” thick. Replacing the entire membrane is very labor intensive and the rubber isn’t cheap. You might be better off repairing the cut with eternabond tape, and sealing the edges.

You can remove the plastic garnish from your bathroom vent fan (4 screws, one in each corner of the plastic frame) and pull that down. Then you'll see the EPDM material which will be cut diagonally and stapled to the 14" square vent framing. Pull one of the "EPDM flaps" away from the wood frame and you can visualize the roof decking stapled to the top of the vent framing.

My guess is that it's either 3/8" or probably 1/4" OSB.

Your roof is EPDM, but now the roofing is almost exclusively TPO. It's lighter, more durable and easier to work with. It's also cheaper, so that's several plusses.

If there is no other damage to the roof membrane, you might want to consider repairing it with Eternabond tape and then sealing all the edges of the Eternabond with DICOR sealant. If there's other issues with the EPDM membrane, then replacement is probably your most logical solution to "fixing everything at one time"...
