Hello everyone,

I have been out in my 315rls since October. I’m interested in suggestions to take some of the bounce out of the 5th wheel. I don’t have a tripod for the Anderson hitch that I have.

First, I would recommend support blocks as high as you can bring with you for your front landing gear. Two 12x12x12 wooden blocks would be best. Yes, too heavy, but they take the height away so the legs aren't extended. Second, you might try a GOOD QUALITY set of X-bracing for the front landing gear.

Yes the JT Armstrong brackets, or whatever brand is pictured, work great.
As opposed to the heavy wooden blocks pick up a couple sets of Lynx Leveler type plastic stackable pads, they fit nicely into a milk crate & 2-3 sets won't weigh as much as one 12x12 wooden block.

We full time and Host for Oregon State Parks, I put JT's on the Summer before we started full time. That was about four years ago, late last fall I replaced all the bolts and nuts with stainless and repainted the tubes. The reason was in the n ear three years we have been hosting we have spent about 20 months on the Oregon coast, six months of that less than 50' from the beach in winter. Other than that they have been great.

Just a word of caution, if you do put your front landing gear on 12x12x12 blocks or any other "taller than the clearance between the truck bed rails and the trailer overhang, be EXTREMELY careful not to "bump the hitch" and knock the landing gear off those blocks. If you do, you may crush your truck bed and/or destroy the bottom of your trailer overhang...

I know many people who do it "regularly with never an issue" most of them are fully aware of the potential to "push the trailer backwards 2 or 3 inches and are very careful not to "bump the pin when hitching".... It only takes doing it "one time" to have done it "one time too many"....

We installed BAL locking arms (a competitor of the SteadyFast system. We are happy with the results and the increased stability.

X-chocks help stabilize the wheels and trailer bounce.

not sure if i can visualize 'I don’t have a tripod for the Anderson hitch that I have.' I am assuming you want less bounce when trailer if off the truck.



So, your trailer needs to be off your hitch and a tripod would greatly increase your stability.

The OP has Anderson hitch and as far as I know there is not a tripod . I used 2 5/16 ball it locks in place. My tripod will hold some serious weight . I like it will secures the Harley under the hitch and takes some weight off the electric jacks. My tripod supports and stabilize The fiver excellent. I have round stock in side the 3/4 inch pipe holes drilled and pined. I have needed to raise the front higher then the 3000 lb screw jack will go .
