Cabin Door Lock
Hey everyone,
What do you guys know about replacing the main cabin door lock that has the dead bolt. Is this a standard lock? Would camping world have them in stock? I have a 2010 Cougar TT and it was broken into last week and I need to replace the door lock. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Re: Cabin Door Lock
If your talking about the entry door, yes they are a standard size.
You have choices depending on what your local store may have in stock, FIC is probably the most used, followed by Bauer and RV lock.
If you get a Bauer, the standard "M" pass key may not work, mine doesn't open them all. I don't care for the touchpad type as I've seen too many fail.

Re: Cabin Door Lock
Yes, it's the main door entering the camper. I don't want the electronic keypad lock either. I haven't had a chance to inspect it but my wife is getting the measurements. Where would the manufacturer's name be located or is there some other type of identifier on the latch that would tell me who the manufacturer is? Thanks for your responses!!!

Re: Cabin Door Lock
If your key is a square head it's FIC, Bauer uses a grey oblong head.

Re: Cabin Door Lock
Yes, a square head with black plastic on it!! That's great to know and thank you Chuck! Going to sound stupid but..... are the locks keyed with the same "standard" or "master" key or does each lock use a specific mated key?

Re: Cabin Door Lock
When you buy a new entry door lock it will come with 2 keys that work the handle and deadbolt. Pass (master) keys will work on the handle but not the deadbolt.
The key cut will be one of many and odds are very slim that someone near you will have the same key.
Once you get the new lock set, the code should be on a tag on the inside handle, I recommend taking that off so no one can look at it. You only need a code, not proof of ownership to get a key.

Re: Cabin Door Lock
Had to replace mine a few weeks ago. Ordered FIC from Amazon. It was here in 2 days, cost less than $30.00 and came with 4 keys.
