Covers for AC units

Just curious if anyone covers just the rooftop ac units on their RV's? Will be putting my Bullet to rest for the winter shortly and haven't read much on the pro's and cons.

Re: Covers for AC units

I had one on my old fiver. It lasted about 5 years. I didn't bother to replace it, and have no intentions on buying another one.

Re: Covers for AC units

I put one on mine. Not for the weather but because of where we are. If I don't, at this time of year it gets full of dead leaves and pine needles. It saves time and effort in the spring.
I don't believe they are needed. On dealer lots they don't cover them up and there's no problems.

Re: Covers for AC units

I figured RV owners would cover the rooftop ac's for the primary concern of minimizing debris, not necessary for exposure to the winter elements. My TT will be stored in the middle of a large large RV lot without any threat of trees and leaves. I will probably just do as my area dealers do then, absolutely nothing.

Re: Covers for AC units

We leave our camper on our seasonal lot for the winter .We do do some winter camping in her and just ruff it with no water and leave it winterized but my take on the AC cover is ....we don't use one because I don't want to give the critters and birds a place to live in the winter. With the cover on it it would make a great shelter for the critters to store nuts n such. In the spring Ill get up there and wash and seal the roof again anyway so to clean the AC unit out is not that big a deal..just my opinion tho.
