Cable Slide-Out inside cover: removal

Have a 2015 (purchased new in 2014) Cougar 30RLI travel trailer with BAL Accu-Slide wire rope cables. One of the wire rope cable ends is frayed, so I'm replacing it using a BAL Accu-Slide repair kit #22305. After watching the video on the BAL Accu-Slide web site, the replacement looked fairing easy as others on this forum have posted.

My challenge is that I can not figure out how to remove the plastic cover to access the rollers to route the wire rope (see attached picture). I have removed all the accessible screws but the cover will still not come off. The underside has a screw and clamp that I removed but still no luck in removing the cover.

Any assistance will greatly be appreciated before I have to take it to the dealer ...... Don

Re: Cable Slide-Out inside cover: removal

I could be wrong but I think that part rotates away from the wall now that all the screws are out. Good luck.

Re: Cable Slide-Out inside cover: removal

Since your cable is still intact, I do not believe you need to remove the access cover over the pulleys. The cable replacement procedure starts in section III of the service manual: http://www.norcoind.com/bal/download...ice-manual.pdf

But if you do want to remove the access cover, as Tom mentioned, it should pivot out of the groove.

Please let us know what ultimately works, since you are entering an uncharted DIY repair.

Re: Cable Slide-Out inside cover: removal

The BAL website has videos to help with this.

Since you have the cable intact, you just use it to pull the new one. Even without the old cable though, I don't think you need access behind that cover. I think there are channels that guide the cable.

I am interested in the process though. I bought a couple of cable kits for emergency repairs on the road.
