Door Handle/Latch (Inside)

I just purchased my Passport in September and have taken it on two trips. On the second trip, the inside door handle broke. Basically, the spot were it pivots broke. It still works if you use just the top part. The dealer has ordered new parts, but is this common? If so, can you buy just the inside part?

I don't know about your particular handle, but I've broken one before. I contacted the manufacturer of the mechanism - trying to "fix" it via parts - they simply sent me a new part. The issue was marginal casting. I don't know - by looking - who made yours.

On our Keystone, I went to re-key the thing (front and rear doors have different keys). I found that I either needed some sort of dealer-only "master" to get lock cylinder out - which meant taking it to the dealer and paying them to put in a $7 part, or pay about $50 to replace the whole thing myself with the correct key. I went for the $50 option.

Likely it's much easier to replace the whole thing... Is there a brand on it?

The entire door lock assembly is available online for $20. I don't think I've ever seen anything but a "complete unit", the "tumbler assembly" or spare keys for sale, so probably you won't find "lockset components" online. I wouldn't want to try changing out a part for one anyway. Chances are good that something else will "malfunction" while the lockset is out of the door, so if I were in your situation, for $20, I'd order a complete lockset. Here's a couple of places:

If your current lockset is a FASTEC, you can order a replacement here with the same "key number" that you have on your current lockset, so if there's more than one entry door, they all use the same key. Costs a tad more ($26) but if you've got two entry doors, it might be more convenient.

I have two doors, but with different keys. Mine doesn't look like any on those sites, but it is an FIC. Attached is the outside view. I'll have to look for the number.

If you look further on the Fastec site you will find your model. I have dealt with them before and their customer service is excellent. Give them a call and you may get a new one under warranty ..... they can key it to match your other door or sell you the parts to change the other one reasonably. http://www.fastecindustrial.com/imag...iaFlyerLeo.pdf JM2¢, Hank

The lockset you have is called the "Leonardo". Fastec markets it as the "European influence engineered in Italy"... Whether it's designed to compete with the Fiat or the Ferrari is anybody's guess LOL

Here's the link to the brochure on that specific lockset: http://www.fastecindustrial.com/imag...iaFlyerLeo.pdf

Thanks.

I found it on ebay, just not in the Fastec online store. I might call them. It would be nice to have the same lock for both doors.

When I picked up my 2810 last month I made the mistake of putting the wrong key in the front door. It turned and locked but then would not unlock or come out. Dealer replaced the lock. It would make sense to have both doors keyed the same.
