How do I remove the painted numbers

I am a new RW owner, and the model and stock numbers are painted on the side of the front frame (i don't know the correct term, but it is the part of the frame that goes up to the ball receiver). I find these numbers very unsightly, and my question is: How do I remove these painted numbers. Do I really have to sand down and spray paint the parts to get it off. Any advise is highly appreciated.
Thank you all.

I tried various cleaners on 2 previous new campers without much success. On this one I did nothing. My wife was bored last weekend while camping and took a baby wipe and her finger nail and got it all off in 5 minutes LOL!

I would think a can of black spray paint would work.

I used Acetone and it came right off, you can find it in the paint section at most hardware type stores. Acetone has many other uses, but need to be careful not to use to strong as it will take paint off if let sit too wet too long.

I don't know that ours was paint. Looked more like shoe polish; especially the way it appeared as it was written on. A little "orange juice" cleaner, a stiff brush, 5 minutes and......gone.

Acetone usually works very well for something like this. Try your local hardware store/paint department.

If the suggestions above don't remove the letters, buy a can of rustoleum black gloss spray paint and paint over them. While you are at it, you can paint the entire tongue. It is easy to do and will look better than the factory finish anyway.

Acetone is generally used in most nail polish removers. Try a little on a rag and see if it works. If you're damaging the paint also then.......on to the spray can of gloss black. Buy the top quality can, by the way.

Many nail polish removers are acetone free these days. Read the label before buying to make sure you actually get acetone

I've never given mine much though, but if it really bothers you, just spray paint over it. Scuff the surface with some scotchbrite and spray it. They didn't use any kind of high tech paint on those frames.
