Campgrounds in Glacier National Park

We're thinking of heading to Glacier sometime late summer. We'd like to know if anyone has stayed at Mountain Meadow Campground in Hungry Horse, MT or one of the KOA's nearby. Are there any other campgrounds in the Glacier area that would be a good choice? We don't want to rough it. Thanks.

My recommendation is the west glacier koa. It's one of the better koa's I've been to, and probably the best option for a non roughing it campground in the area.

If you don't mind going a bit further then waterton lakes national park which borders glacier on the north is beautiful, full hook ups and a resort community. If you are going in July or August check online for availability as canadian national parks are very busy in the summer and usually require early booking.

Because we had to rent a cabin as well as a trailer spot, we have had to make reservations at East Glacier KOA at St. Mary - no cabins were available at West on the dates we need.

My question is this - we want to extend our time at Glacier after our cabin buddies leave; and, although West Glacier KOA has sites, we'd like to just stay put for another couple of days where we'll already be. Has anyone stayed at the East Glacier KOA? Will we like it enough to stay longer, or should we move? We're leaving next week and we need to make additional reservations ASAP. Thanks for any comments.

Might be too late for you, but we just got back from the Lake Five Resort just west of West Glacier. A bit cramped, but the lake is fantastic and the campground was very friendly and well run.

It's only a couple of miles away from the West Glacier KOA so you could take a drive through and check it out.

There are lots of things to do in the area so you should not be bored. What activities are you looking for?
