Cargo carrying capacity

I am looking at getting a carbon 398 or 387. Both have cargo carrying capacity of over 4500 pounds. Both have 17’ garages with 3k load in garage area specifically.

I am looking to put a 1986 Toyota desert race truck that weights close to 4200 pounds in said garage. My question is will the trailer support this weight or will as the person I talked to at keystone said, “the frame will snap in half”.
Or will the door taco?

I am just seeing if anyone has loaded their hauler with some legit weight and lived to tell the tale!

Thanks for any information you can provide and I really appreciate any information you all can share.

Thanks again!

I had a toy hauler but I only had a Gold Wing trike. More than your planned capacity is if something happens and your insurance company wants to review your weight, you may have issues submitting a claim. I would not disregard what Keystone mentioned, could be the additional weight and movement of the cargo could cause damage to the frame.

Don't. The "toy" haulers aren't car haulers.

The OP actually answered his own question; can I put a 4,200 lb. Vehicle in a space rated to carry 3,000 lbs? Nope, nope and nope.

Get a Class A motorhome with a car-hauler trailer

You have gotten good advice above. Further than that, your door/ramp will simply not take the strain of 4200 pounds loading and unloading.

To add to Jim's advice about "folding the ramp door", there are several types of "ramp supports" that you can buy to put under the ramp to increase support and decrease the risk of "folding the door"...

There's several reports of people using those "ramp support systems" and stating the doors did not "fold". But many of them did report that after the first use, the doors no longer closed properly because they "bent" and no longer are flat and level"....

Bent doors or folded doors are not a warranty item, so make sure you have "good insurance with a low deductible."

But the greatest "hazard", IMO, is the floor denting/crushing under the weight placed on the wheels and the two main frame rails in the trailer chassis bending or snapping "at the axles" when you hit that first big bump on the freeway.
