ICYMI - Camper Report - 5 worst states to camp
Sorry if one of these states is on your bucket list of places to camp... I haven't camped in any of these places so this is the opinion of Camper Report and I have no personal axe to grind....

Interesting that this article is written by "Jennifer Jennings who lives with her husband in a 29′ trailer in Mexico. She is one half of DashboardDrifters.com and the founder of RVSpotDrop, a web service for full-time RVers. Jennifer has been RVing for 2+ years."
My oh my, lives in Mexico and has been RVing for two whole years. Oddly enough, I'm all but speechless.

Didn't say I liked the way she did the metrics for her state by state compare. Not sure how she developed the rankings in each category but some may be valid and some not. I dunno. Just tossing this out there. Louisiana and Mississippi seem to have been singled out. Worst thing about those states are the east-west interstate road condition.

Oh, I found it interesting, I was just making light of her background and experience. Like another member (he'll remain nameless) I'm at times a fool for click-bait articles.

To be fair she stated that her "friends" over at Lawn Love did the comparison and she is only reporting it. Still - - Lawn Love? A lawn care company?
Between them they "explain" the metrics used - - but I think some (or even most) of their metrics are questionable. What in the world do RV rentals or RV supply stores have to do with quality of camping? And I get the impression they focused on private campgrounds and private businesses over federal, state, or county campgrounds.
As an Oregonian I found it highly suspicious that they ranked Oregon #21. ??? Year after year, in their annual polls (before they went out of print), Trailer Life magazine rated Oregon the #1 state to RV in. Those polls were based on reader voting from a nationwide audience.
I don't give the "report" much credence and would not pass it on.

I'm not inclined to base my reservation deposits on the info in that "campground rating list" either.... Trailer Life did an article on camping in and around the New Orleans area a year or so ago. They rated Fountainbleu State Park as one of the top campgrounds in the entire southeast US. Personally, I prefer Evangeline State Park just east of Lafayette, but both of them are "hands down great camping"....
As for Mississippi being #5 ????? Apparently she's never actually camped along the Gulf Coast from Gulfport to Mobile... Heck, the Alabama Welcome Center on I-10 has a full hookup campground (or at least they did) where you could "park, plug in, stay cool and get a few hours rest before heading to your destination.
There's loads of great camping in Louisiana and in Mississippi...
I wonder if she's really just trying to wave people away from her "favorite camping spots" so they aren't as crowded, now that more people are buying RV's and making reservations.....

Well, I have to say she had Rhode island's number. Last time I went looking for campgrounds in RI, using all the usual RVing apps, I think I found one. (Once upon a time I think I remember there being two.) And it had horrible reviews (mostly price-gouging complaints, I believe).

Looking at Campground Reviews in the tiny state of Rhode Island, they listed 45 RV campgrounds that had been reviewed. Looking at a sampling of the RI parks the pricing didn't look out of line. By comparison, Texas has 2,333 campgrounds listed on the site. Just saying (everything is bigger in Texas!).

Wow. And now I'm getting comparable results from my other apps.
Last time I looked was just four years ago.
It's a conspiracy, I tell you. A conspiracy.

Could you have had a filter set 4 years ago when you did your search?

Hmmmmm
Using the "illogical logic" in that review is very much like saying some people who eat smoked ribs are bad, so everyone who eats smoked ribs is also bad..
Isn't that the same as saying, Mississippi is last, they have some bad campgrounds, hard to get reservations and limited RV servce and RV stores, so the ENTIRE state suffers from BAD, INADEQUATE CAMPING ????? And, Kansas has more RV service centers, so their camping experience will be "better than Mississippi" ?????
You gotta be kidding me .....

I had the same thought, that I had filtered by "I need sewer and have pets" for our two-week stay, but the apps I used back then (before discovering RV Life) don't even seem to be able to do that. Sticking with conspiracy. Or aliens.

Our owner owns campgroundreviews.com (RV Life). Check that site as they have the absolute best campground info and our admin also is the admin there (Ms. Janet).

We've camped in Louisiana a few times in the last 25 years. We experienced no issues at all. Of course, we stayed in State Parks too. We had very enjoyable times. As with any camping anywhere, one has to have adequate supplies, food, and fuel and a plan to get it if they don't.
Bottom line is, these differences is what makes the camping experience so great! If every one was identical, just think how boring and dull that would be.

Campground
I believe all the CG are going downhill fast. It seems you can't reserve a specific site at a lot of CG that you could previously. I have now run into three that have changed their policy.

I think is an effort to gain internet clicks. Money involved.
Louisiana has some great camping, Fountainbleau being one place.
Just got back from Coushatta Casino RV park near Kinder. It’s a cookie cutter park but just what we wanted for a week.
Can’t think of anywhere we have stayed in Mississippi, but I wouldn’t hesitate.
Edit add…love bug season has started. I need to clean them off the 5th and the truck. Be ready.

I’ll reply to myself…
We have always thought Coushatta was over priced. It was even higher if they had a known entertainer performing. Betty made reservations and proclaimed “they are not near as expensive as before”. But wait, there’s more, they have added a resort fee. So for 6 days it was $200. About their normal price.
We stayed a couple nights at Fountainbleau and it was fine. My brother gave Palmetto State Park a good review. Indian Creek at Woodworth is pretty good. Abbeville City Rv Park is like camping in your backyard.

I've camped in 2 of the 5 states mentioned, Louisiana and Mississippi, and I wouldn't hesitate to go back to either.
In fact, we would love to return to Louisiana.
You couldn't pay me to go to Mexico, on the other hand.
