Took a while to get a replacement which I thought was strange, I mean a propane regulator? How hard can it be?

Too bad I don't know the brand of the old one.
The new one is totally different. It's a Marshall Excelsior MEGR-253 but it doesn't look anything like the picture in Post #2.

It'll work.

Good luck finding one… I’ve scoured the internet from under the awning at camp, none to be found. There was one on Amazon (private seller), they wanted over $90. I put it in my list to watch, just in case. A few hours later it had sold.

I scored a ACR6 from flame king off ebay for 70 that included the pigtails since the pigtails are different connectors then the ones on the 6020. I bought a manometer and watched a number of videos online and my wc was just over 11" running at 50% load. I know the slack tube is more accurate but the manometer was quick to verify I am within range. I figure this regulator just needs to get me through this season and hopefully I can get a better quality one of the winter when demand is lower.

You can post an inquiry with Keystone Customer Svc here:
https://www.keystonerv.com/customer-service
or call them at 888-327-4236.

Have your VIN ready.

The model years of the recalled regulators are 18xx to 21xx.

You might also update your registration with Keystone. There was a mention of mailing a notification, but they did not have my current address.

Propane regulator recall

Received an envelope from Thor today. The "Winn-Tec Model 6020 dual stage propane regulator" provided on scudloads of 2019-2021 Keystone models may not... well, regulate. High flames, fire hazards, all that. Recall, one-hour retrofit time. But parts not yet available.

Curiously, the official NHTSA recall page doesn't name half the models that the mailed flyer does. This webpage contains information more closely matching the information in the mailed letter.

80,000 regulators are affected.

I received the same letter. It also states that there is no stock available but that they would send another letter once stock is available. And, if I have already replaced it (which I have), to call them at the supplier number. So I guess they’ll reimburse me to a certain dollar amount. But I’d bet they won’t for a new regulator purchased off of eBay. We’ll see come Monday.

I received my official recall notice from Thor (Keystone) yesterday. I already replaced mine at my own expense rather than wait for a disaster. In the letter they provide direction on how to seek reimbursement in a case like mine so we’ll see how that process goes!

Just looked on the internet. No marshalls to be found. All said "out of stock" and no idea when they would be available. Found a "Camco" that would be in stock "soon". I went ahead and ordered it.

Let us know what reimbursement they offer you. I wouldn't mind the opportunity to install a higher-quality auto-switcher on my unit if the "rebate" is acceptable.

I got the same letter and I’ve already replaced it with a new one I found eBay. I have doubts that Thor will reimburse me for an eBay transaction. We’ll see when I call on Monday.

Yeah, found that one this morning. Sorry for the duplication.
I did do a search for propane recall, last month only, in the advanced search box before adding mine, and I got squat.
Wish there was a way to sort by date, or specify AND for search terms instead of OR.

Our regulator went out on our first trip this year in May! Ran out on one tank and I switched to the other and propane was pouring out of the vent! We had to rely on the camp chef propane stove to cook with for the week! Used the fireplace to help heat the camper in the morning! We had a great trip even without the propane, thank goodness for the electric water heater! No replacement regulators anywhere close so we waited until we went home and I found one and changed to all out! Threw the old one away and didn’t keep receipts so call it a cost of rving!

With an exclamation point after each sentence you must really be excited!!!!!!! Just curious, did you swap bottles to see if the full tank would work on the side of the regulator that was working?

Approved Replacement List

Just got off the phone with Keystone - they have an official list of regulators that are approved for use under the recall. Only these 6 will be allowed for reimbursement purposes if you've replaced it yourself. And they don't care where you got it from, they just want the paid invoice for pricing.

Call them at the number on your recall letter. PDF of approved regulators from Keystone is attached.

I bought the MERG-253H model - which is the "high flow" version of the MEGR-253 line (allows for more LP appliances to be running at the same time, but not a higher flow for just one), so I don't know if they will accept that or not since the attached PDF shows "MEGR-253".

Keystone replied to the email with the attached invoice for the regulator cost I sent them. Now the service department wants picture of the data plate from the new regulator. I guess to prove to them it’s installed, or it’s really what the invoice says it is, or….?

When I called they asked for my purchase invoice, a picture of the old regulator and date code and a picture of the new regulator installed.
