Are you sure the hose is completely collapsed?
If not, the way to get it to collapse all the way is to take one of the caps off so the air can escape as it collapses. Then when fully collapsed, put the cap back on.

Also, quite a few people don't even use that "square" bumper for the hose.
There are several better options for storing that hose.

On my previous travel trailer, I added the Valterra hose holder.
Our current 5th wheel came with it from the factory.

The square hose bumper are usually smaller than they should be.
The Rhino hose goes in but then hangs on the lugs, right?

File or cut them down.

I would still get a sewer hose tube snd mount underneath. Extra sewer hose length is always a smart move when traveling far from home.
