I do a lot of home remodeling and I've built many cabinets over my life time. One thing I've discovered from the big-box home improvement stores and this is, they are always changing their merchandise. I have, in the past, purchased cabinet knobs for a project, and then went back a week or two later and discovered they are "out" and that items is now discontinued. Compromises have to be made, yes.
But then, I may go to a different store and bingo! There is is. Or maybe not!
So, I make the compromises.
Fast forward a couple years and now I'm working on a totally different project looking for just the right knob. And bingo! There's the one that back again that was discontinued!
What I'm saying is, don't just search at one source and if you cannot find a match simply call it quits. More than likely the knob is "out there", you just have to find it.
Consider RV salvage yards if any exist in your area. Consider on-line salvage places (there are some out of Northern Indiana). Consider visiting the big box stores, Lowe's, Menards, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, even some local Mom & Pop hardware stores (yes some still exist).
What I'm saying is, don't settle. OK, find a quick replacement. But then keep the search open for an exact match. Never give up looking. It will pop-up someday.
