Squirrel Proofing 3190 RLS

I purchased a new 2021 Sprinter 3190 RLS and within a few weeks found a nest (with black walnuts) in the island, in the storage areas, behind the wall (furnace) and in the front storage area (batteries and storage).

Hope this helps prevent damage for others. See the attached photos.

Fixes:
1. The first thing I found was the fresh water tank drain was not sealed. Quick fix was great stuff in the opening. Note the black walnut stain on the valve in the photo.
2. The opening forward of the Propane tanks. Allows access to the forward compartment. Made a cardboard template to block the bottom and partially filled the cavity with great stuff.
3. Rear frame. There are two large holes (I assume for ventilation) in the rear. I covered these with extruded screen.
4. Also filled in the smaller opening in the frame, including around the wire holes for the rear stabilizers and the entire front storage compartment where I could see light coming through including the opening around the stabilizers.

So far so good. Only damage was some black walnut stain in one drawer of the island. OBTW also blocked the hole in the island and cabinets with either great stuff or decorative vent screen.

Scatter a few pouches of "Fresh Cab" throughout the interior & storage compartments, this stuff works great & smells fresh.
You could also scatter some "Ramick Green" pellets underneath the rv, it's a repellent not a poison, it also works well.
I used both these products for 2 when our 5er was in storage, never had any critters come in, found both products at Tractor Supply.

Thanks, we have used various products over the years and thought they worked. Once we sealed up the 2008 Cougar we had no problems, never had an issue with the 2014 Outback, or our two previous Sunlines. FYI, the squirrels made there nests on top of the packets of two different repellents and peppermint soaked cotton balls. Defense in depth, including preventing entry is the best method.

Is the unit stored at home or storage facility?

If at home get a string of LED rope lights and wrap around the outside of the trailer on the ground.

I never tried that but have the strobe and animal sound electronic repeller in my detached garage with talk radio playing full time and still have critters. The only full proof method has been high velocity lead which works every time.
