If you have had a Sailun tire failure, you should report the failure. Thank God in 16 years we have not had a tire failure. Good Luck

Happy trails.

I have the dates in the recalls made in Vietnam . I called Big O tire and ran the recall over the top of Big O. They said I should be getting a recall notices and they would check the dates on my sailun tires . Sounds like hogwash to me if you’re in the dates any big O dealership should address the recall . It looks like the 285s are recalled from may to October .

Well - time to start calling folks. I replaced all 4 in December 2020 and put about 4-5K on them. We had a near miss on our Sept trip, when we stopped for evening in SC, found the following (still was at full 110 psi). Just checked the date codes, the failure was a 3620, have 1 more of same and 2@3520. My replacement was a 5120.

Recall Update

I'll post updates on this thread as I work the replacement for the tires.

Talked with the tire folks at Walmart, where the tires were purchased, installed and also worked the failed tire replacement. As they didn't enter the DOT code on the installation order (thanks guys ), it is unlikely I would have received any notification from them. Nothing against the installers as they have been good to work with.

Spoke with 2 folks at TBC, the distributor, this morning, both were helpful. First call referred me to the QA team that is handling the recall. QA team is working the NHTSA approval on the recall letter, which should be this week. Goal is to have notifications out by Christmas. My information was added to their contact list. I pressed on getting re-imbursed for the failed tire I have already replaced, as I have documentation on the failure and receipts. No decision or resolution on that as of yet.

As with any effort to get repairs, alway document all communication.

For reference the QA team contact number at TBC - 800-739-7698

I bought Saliun 5 tires from SimpleTire.com.
All 5 tires are date code "2020" but "made in China".
I don't think these tires are included in the recall.
I have put about 5000 miles on them with no issues.

I have a buddy that has a Grand Design 5er and had issues with the original tires. He knew that I had Saliun S637s on my old 5er and that I had put over 12000 miles on them over a few years and had no issues and they still looked like new. So he ordered a set of the S637's earlier this year and they are part of the recall batch. He already had one that was coming apart on the inside. I have been forwarding him info from what has been being posted here and will forward your PDF. He had bought them from Simple Tire and had called them yesterday and they said they were waiting for info from Saliun on how they were gonna handle it. He actually already has ordered a set of Hercules to replace them and figures he will just sell the new Saliuns if/when he gets them. I like the Saliuns and thought about working out a deal with him when he gets the replacements but, at the same time not sure if I trust em anymore.

Questioning them as well

I will be making calls to the official dealers today, and working out the replacements. I had no issues with my first set of Sailun's and after 5 years felt confident in getting them again. Having replaced one 3 months ago, in any case, I want all 4 to be the same brand. In theory mixing / match shouldnt matter, but dont like it.

This is BS for one reason there is only 1 tire shop that can change heavy tires with the Aluminum rims in my town . I will have to raise my camper and remove the 4 tires then take them to the shop . Tire shop here charges 20 dollars a tire with balance. I may have To drive 100 miles to big O tires to get the balance and mounting For the recall. I’ll be calling today my self. The dead line is December 31 to make a clam.

I agree. I like them all to be the same brand and same age. On my vehicles I can go by tread depth but I don't want to be worrying about several different dates on the tires as they age out on my RV.

Mixing tire treads on a trailer doesn't matter. They don't steer nor propell so it's not relevant. I'm old school when it comes to tires and prefer they all be the same with the similar date codes. Just my personal preference as I don't like the look of a patchwork of tires, reminds me of a trailer heading for the dump.

Quick update, got three new replacement S637 235/80/16 today. It took my local dealer a few days to get them in. New date code of 3521. Next I will work to get reimbursed for the one that torn apart in Sept.
