Gonna get worse before it gets better

Make those 2024 campground reservations real soon, now...

Americans Panic-Buy RVs As Shipments Exceed 600,000 Units This Year And Next [LINK]

"A new RV Industry Association (RVIA) report has confirmed our suspicions: Americans continue to panic buy motorhomes.
RVIA's latest quarterly report projects RV wholesale shipments will exceed 600,000 units in both 2021 and 2022, which is record-breaking demand as the virus pandemic has fundamentally changed how Americans vacation..."

[fundamentally changed how Americans vacation..."] I recall the same thing being said after the terror attacks on September 11 th. America has a history of "getting on with their lives" after adverse times. I think this to shall pas. JMHO

Job Security especially since a lot of them will probably not be unable to do even the smallest repairs themselves.

Traveling for the short term will be negatively impacted from what I can see for those of us used to being able to pick up and go. The owner of the park where I'm staying started adding about 40 new spaces last year. Almost has them all finished along with a lot of other improvements. As a space gets ALMOST ready to use someone is renting it not caring if it is completely ready or not - unbelievable.

Many of these folks appear to be first timers and come in all age groups from what looks like late 30s to 70s. Judging by the "fun" some of them have setting up and trying to use an RV don't know how long some of them will want to continue; already had one middle age couple tell me it was a lot more work than what they thought it would be, had another tell me with wide eyes that they wanted to go "stay on the beach" down the coast but rent was $1200 mo. or $400 wk. - they had no idea!!

I figure much of this is just knee jerk reaction to all the media generated hysteria and will die down...no matter how many variants they continue to come up with. Along with lots of new RVs we're seeing lots of near new used ones as well as older one. In a couple of years I wouldn't be surprised to see a glut of used RVs of all kinds on the market.

Yea, but how many are selling them or abandoning RVing almost as fast as they buy them because the enchantment of RVing soon became a nightmare experience!

Out here, even used are over priced…no need to abandon.

Chuckster, You might have been able to retire from Law enforcement BUT you will NEVER be able to retire from RV work. If you try folks will hunt you down and park their RVs in your yard.

I would tell friends when the price of fuel went up like today’s prices. I would pull the camper and boat to the drying up Local lakes. I can do that when I get older . I made reservations for Shade Vally rv resort at Sturges next aug . The attendant said half of the softail Area is already booked . I have changed my Route habits and decided to stay on the interstate. The backroads, small city traffic and scenic routing will be put on hold for now .

Havent seen those sort of prices for almost a year now out in Idaho... It had been down as low as $2.09 for diesel but jump to about 3.56 by May and has been hovering around 4.05 since about Oct...

Did get some yesterday in Boise at 3.89.. a good deal .. phone gas app actually does save me

Since we got home on Oct 31st Diesel prices have stayed about the same or fluctuated +- $0.10 here in North Central Fl other then Sam's Club prices are in the $3.49-.59 range. Good thing is since we are home weare able to use the car.

Yup. Just finished making reservations for our annual trip with the grandkids for 2022. Dates I wanted are full so I reserved different dates. The National Park campgrounds we volunteer in are full every night with reservations. And to watch the rookies is quite the show....I would offer advice and assistance but I don’t want to get in the middle of their learning experience.

Unless you boonie camp there would be few long or short term RV spaces where I reside (I live in a stick and stucco when not volunteering). Up until the start of the pandemic snow bird sites were easy to find in the RV parks. Now, good luck.

I belong to another forum for owners of a competing brand. There are many, many 2021 and 2022 fifth wheels, expensive rigs including toy haulers. Used twice, used once, not used at all many of the advertisements claim. I wonder how much of a beating they are taking due to depreciation and the loan balances....

Supply Chain Issues

I wonder what kind of supply chain issues the RV industry is having? Hopefully the shipping container marked for Keystone that is full of China Bombs never gets unloaded.

Better hope not! The few plants that are still operating in the US of A couldn't keep up with the demand here!

And obviously not all that are made in China are faulty. The Super Cargo tires on my Fuzion have held up well since 2017. The Goodyear Marathon's that were originally on it were literally blowing out while it was parked in the yard!

I agree, hope the communist China made tires are kept out of America. The RV industry buys the cheapest tires possible.

Happy trails.
