Maxxis 215/75/14 144Q

Wanting to upgrade TT tires from the factory 205/75/14 D to Maxxis 215/75/14 144Q tires. Looked at Goodyear same size but only rated at 108L. Not knowing a whole bunch about TT tires is the Maxxis tire worth the purchase over Goodyear tires? Personally I’ve always been a Goodyear guy when it came to auto or truck tires but now I’m looking to put the best tire on my TT. Thanks for any info anyone may have.

Your numbers are all wrong. Do a little more researching and see if you can come-up with the right numbers.

Richard,

Maxxis doesn't offer a LRD tire in the 215 75R14 size range. They only offer a LRC (6 ply) in the 215mm width. https://www.maxxis.com/catalog/tire-...t-radial-m8008

You can find that Carlisle offers the same sizes as Maxxis. https://www.carlislebrandtires.com/o...adial-trail-hd

Goodyear Endurance ST radial does come in a 215 75R14 LRD. The maximum load is 2200 lbs. https://www.goodyear.com/en-US/tires...ce/sizes-specs

I'm not sure where you got your tire specifications, but they aren't the Maxxis M8008 series which is the only RADIAL ST tire line that Maxxis sells in the US.

The tire load/speed rating 144Q indicates a tire load rating of 6173 pounds at 99 MPH. I don't know of any ST tire (or commercially available LT tire) with a load rating anywhere near that rating. The largest load rating I know of for any 14" ST tire is 2200 pounds, although there may be some "special use brands" that are rated higher, but most people, if they could find them, couldn't afford them.

Recheck your data, you looked up something wrong or typed it incorrectly. The tires you posted (Maxxis 215/75/14 144Q) aren't available as an ST tire.

I'm curious to know about the Maxxis tire with the 144Q load/speed rating that will carry 6150 pounds and run 99 MPH. Did I miss something?
On Edit: John, I just missed your post by a couple minutes!

According to their ST tire load inflation chart Maxxis does make the ST205/75R14 with a LRD maximum load rating of 2040#.

Here is the link.

http://international.maxxis.com/trai...nflation-chart

You’re not going to find a 14” trailer tire with a LRE.

Maxxis does not put speed letters or any other kind of speed restriction information on their trailer tire sidewalls. Therefore, they are all 65 MPH tires. They can tell you whatever they want but unless they back-up what they say with a speed rating greater than 65 MPH on the tire bill of sale, it’s a 65 MPH tire.

So with info provided by Amazon do you think they labeled this tire as an ST tire instead of a passenger car tire or error on load rating/speed? Just looking for the best tire for TT to safely get to destination and back home again.

Here is a complete load index listing. You can be the judge.

https://www.tiresplus.com/tires/tire...d-index-chart/

The official load capacity indicators for ST tires are the load range letters. Load index numbers are allowed on the tire sidewalls of ST tires when they have a dual rating and for officially displaying speed letters.

The proper designated size for that tire is ST215/75R14. Maxxis no longer build bias ply tires such as this designated size; ST215/75D14.

Amazon mislabeled the advertisement. There is no such tire available on the market. Whether anyone would secondguess what it really is or what it "could be" or "might be" is irrelevant. It's not available and if you order them, you'll not get what was advertised and may not be able to return them.

I'd suggest you move on, find a reputable tire dealer, buy tires that you know are appropriate for your trailer and not risk what you KNOW is not available and is inaccurately represented on a website.

I kept the same 205 75R14 but installed the new Goodyear Endurance ST. Trailer already rides to high for my liking, and don't see a reason to make it ride any higher.

I went with the Endurance GY too only I bought the 215 75R14. Haven’t installed them yet. Did you have the wheels balanced? I’ve heard it both ways to balance and not to balance. I’m going to have them balanced to be safe
