If you Fulltime and long-term at one location ... it makes perfect sense ...

About 10 years ago I owned both ('96 NuWa 5er and slide in '84 Lance). We primarily boondock and I, quite frequently, take the 5er into places I probably shouldn't, so I got the Lance to use for remote hunting and other places that I DAMN SURE SHOULDN'T TAKE THE 5er. It worked out well for us. Now, we just have the newer 5er... I still boldly go where no man has gone before ... and no doubt, will someday regret it. If you can afford 2, and will use them both, it might just fit your bill nicely - if I could afford another slide in - I'd do it in a second.

Ohhhh you and your new truck... Hahaha. You never told me you got the fancy hitch setup. Can you see the green glow from the south down here where I'd need an engine hoist to get my truck bed clear?

We still have our Four Wheel popup camper that was on the 12valve. Its sitting in the shop taking up space, but for some reason I can't sell it. With my Andersen hitch that is easily removed I can drop the Four Wheel into the bed, hook up my 16' enclosed utility trailer with quad or RZR and appropriate firearms and go someplace into the more remote regions of Nevada that the toyhauler prohibits. Might be a bit primitive for the wifey at this stage, but my pup Charlie would love it. Maybe when she's in Kalifornia visiting her brother for a week...

Back in January I pulled mine by myself 500 miles up to Tulsa for the Chili Bowl. It was nice having all the room but I sure was worried about an ice storm like a few years ago.
I'm thinking I could make more time when I'm alone and with less stress. Our first RV was an old Tejas wood framed 8ft cabover I bought 3rd hand from a co-worker. I put it on a light duty 1982 F250. It had 5/8 ton rear end and 250 front end. 300 cu in six cylinder and 4 speed manual with granny gear. Had to put Helwig helper springs on it. I never weighed it, but it had to be overloaded. Ran 7.50 x 16 tube bias ply tires. Went everywhere in that thing. Spent 3 weeks in Yellowstone in it.

I am waiting for a real small used pop up to pull behind my CJ-5. Just a getaway rig for hunting on.

Owned an Aliner Sport several years ago. To this day sorry we didn't keep it as a spare. It was an awesome little trailer, just perfect for mountain outings.

Now, if there was just "some way" to install a fifth wheel hitch on top of that "thing" and lift the Cougar about 16"
