I think you should mount the retrieved brush above your entry door....a horseshoe of sorts.

It’s good to see someone come on here with a problem and a good attitude,

willing to listen to multiple different ideas and theory’s

Now tie a 3-4' rope to it & have DW put it around her wrist when cleaning the toilet to make retrieval easier next time.
