Cougar 25RDS B&W hitch question

Hi, i am looking for a start point for setting up my B&W Companion Slider with my new Cougar 24RDS 5th wheel.

The slider has 6 different places to mount the base on the assembly and am hoping someone else has the same setup and can provide some direction as to what would be the best mounting point. I have a 19 Silverado Crew cab with 6 1/2 foot bed. The truck has AirLift bags to level out the load.

It would be nice to be able to set it up right the first time without having to disassemble the base assembly a number of times so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I hope your not mounting that heavy hitch in a 1/2 ton pickup?
Keystone's cutesy 1/2 ton 5th wheel label is just a sales gimmick. You'll be overloaded with a 1/2 with the 2300lb pin weight even before you add the 200-300lb B&W slider. Airbags are just as you've stated, for leveling the truck only, they add no carrying capacity but do reduce the payload by the amount of their weight.

Well another case of it only weighs 7,369# and the pin weight is only 1,400#, my payload sticker says I have a payload of 1,600#, so I have 200# to spare!

Dry pin is 19.4% of dry weight, so at the 10,000# GVWR figure 1,940# or more.

Once again the salespersons have steered a buyer wrong. Truck salesperson. "This truck has a tow capacity of 12,000#, so yes you can tow that 5er!"

Trailer salesperson, "This 5er is 1/2 ton tow-able, no problem for your truck!"

No, you didn't miss anything but not all of us look thru all the threads before answering one thread... and nowhere in this thread was it stated that he had recently purchased a Duramax... after all his screen name is Z71

I looked thru his one thread because i didn't see a reason for bashing a new member in this thread.

I guess you would need to point out to these failing eyes (apparently) where the OP said he had a duramax in this thread. His original post in this thread says nothing about it.....or did I miss something? This is what happens when a new member does not post any information in their bio or signature. Understandable as lots of new members don't know but certainly no reason for you to decide to be "forum policeman" and challenge other members in such a way. A simple "I believe it was mentioned he had a duramax in a different thread" would suffice.

His first post ever he stated he has a duramax. I also did not see him ask for post #2 or #3. Or was that also overlooked

Sorry to stir up s###!
Just to clarify, I never said he had a 1/2 ton & he never said what he had, at least in this post, I simply stated I hoped he wasn't putting that hitch in a 1/2 ton.
If he indeed has a 2500 then he should be good to go!

Sorry to cause so much confusion and drama, for the record I do have a 2019 2500HD Z71 Duramax Crew Cab Short bed. It is bagged just to keep everything loaded as it is unloaded. So back to the original question, Companion base settings, anyone with a similar setup with any suggestions? Thanks

Well you are slightly better off, but being a 2019 that 2500 likely only has a 10,000 GVWR and a payload less than 3,000#. You might want to weigh the truck before too long and see just how much payload you have available.

This a perfect example of how a signature can prevent a ton of questions and bantering back and forth to get it. It's a very handy communication tool. Just go to the top left of the page. In the black bar click on "UserCP", then edit signature. Type in the year, make, and full model number of both your truck and trailer. Then click on "save". You can add other info about your rig, family, pets, etc. if you like. That signature will then appear in every post you author.

Z71, the TT that you have is 10K GVWR which at 23% is 2300 pounds payload. My 2019 Duramax Diesel Z71 has a payload of 2209 which would put that trailer over my payload rating. That is before any people, pets, grandkids, tools, and etc...

Please post the yellow and white placard of YOUR truck. I am betting you are in the same situation as me as far as payload goes.
