Just got back from a rush trip to Illinois. First time east in a long while. Have to say I was very impressed
with the quality and the maintenance of the KS roads system. On the way out I had to make tracks so used I70 from the Colorado border to Kansas City. Did not realize there would be tolls on the interstate. BUT, the nicest portion, best kept and smoothest, was the toll section of I70. Cost all of 3.50 to use and looked like all the money went to road upkeep. On the way back used US36 up north and then down south to Salina and then KS 96 all the way back to Colorado. The roads were so well maintained that there was really no difference in time from using the Interstate. What smooth, well kept roads! You knew immediately when you were out of Kansas. MO. and CO do not hold a candle to KS. I want the state of Colorado to hire whoever is in charge of KS roads and bring them here. KS has half the population of MO and a little more than half the population of CO and yet they have enough resources to have beautifully maintained roads. Weeds cut down along the highways, never experienced a major pot hole. Hats off
to the KS Highway Department.
