Picked Her Up - Cougar 29RKS

It was a very long day at the dealer yesterday picking up our 2021 Cougar 29RKS. The PDI went well, taking about 2 hours. All systems checked out and there were only minor things that needed attention. They were all corrected before we left the lot.

As I mentioned, it was a long day. There were some issues that came up installing the hitch so we didn't leave the lot till after 5pm. Driving home with our first 5th wheel, which is a much bigger rig than I'm used to, in rush hour traffic in Houston was interesting to say the least. But after the first 10 miles or so, I started to relax. It towed really well, a lot different than our bumper pull

I'm sure as we get used to it driving won't be as "interesting".

First trip out next Monday to Lake Livingston State Park (TX). Really looking forward to it.

Anyone that can relax while pulling a camper in Houston traffic is a zen master! I stayed in Houston 4 months a couple years ago in my RV while getting some med treatments and I was petrified when pulling my camper. Folks in Houston sure are in a hurry and cramming my brakes on made me really uncomfortable as folks ducked in front of me. I think the drivers in Houston are more aggressive than even San Antonio. Nice looking trailer!

Congrats on getting "Beauty" home.

IMO pulling the 5th wheel vs a bumper pull in heavy big city traffic makes it much nicer and easier....but it's still no joy. Many years ago I said I wouldn't ever drive thru Houston "just because". I used to endure it to get to Galveston but now try to find alternate routes. Same goes for the DFW metroplex. Just like Houston and drivers are just as crazy. This last trip through there (April) I said never again. After 3 lockdowns and dealing with wanna be race car drivers staring at their smartphones; not again, even with the 5th wheel.

So, if like me, those drives through the crazy metro cities is always "interesting", 5th wheel or not. These days I'm all about making that part of life less "interesting". Enjoy your upcoming trip, Livingston should be fun.

If you want pucker factor while towing try Seattle, I'll tow through Houston any day & twice on Sunday rather than Seattle.
Those folks up there are also the in a big a## hurry, the exception is they don't know how to drive or any of the highway rules!!! It's pedal to the metal & get the hell outa my way.
Never had so many 1 finger waves towing anywhere in the country as I've gotten in Seattle, must be the state traffic symbol!!

Congrats enjoy the new rig. We love ours they look the same same designs. Do you have 2 ac’s mine has one front and rear? I’m pulling also with the f250 and haven’t had any issues. I’m using a pull right auto slider hitch with ours and to date pulls like a dream.

Yes, they have changed. This rig is supposed to be "half ton towable" but there is no way I would ever attempt it.
