Dometic Furnace - Warranty Repair Parts 6 months out??
Took our 2020 Keystone Cougar 29MBS to Camping World for a Dometic Furnace repair under Dometics' warranty.
They informed me that the sail switch has failed and must be replaced. Replacement part is four to six months out.
Is this the norm now??

Not sure how mechanically inclined you are, if you are it is not that hard to fix yourself. I have done it, it can be a pain in the neck to get at and figure out. It might require evacuating and disconnecting gas line, removing unit, and opening it up. I am not sure where it is in your unit or how hard it is to get to.
I would look at your owners package for make and model of furnace, check amazon or a 3rd party parts supplier and try to order a sail switch. They are fairly cheap, I bought two for $12 each CDN.
If you do undertake this project before you re-attach the vent ducts, I would blow them out with an electric blower / air nozzle to try to eliminate any more debris that is in the line. Just in case.
There are a few videos on youtube that outline the remove and re-install.
It's one of those jobs where once you have done it it's definitely not that hard.
Good Luck

Four to six months seems a bit long to me. 4-6 weeks is what we were being told last month. You can call Dometic with your model and serial number and they will tell you.

unless it is the paddle part of the switch, I would think the switch its self is a standard switch assembly that can be gotten from an electronics store.

It really is just this simple, depending upon the location of your furnace.

Yes replacing the sail switch, hi limit switch, control board, blower motor, etc is really quite simple..
However.. 90 % of the fifth wheels don’t have outside access so the “job” is getting to the unit to diagnose and repair...
On my fifth wheel you have to crawl inside the basement access door and disconnect everything to move the furnace away from the exterior wall to ga8n access to anything... it’s a suburban furnace and appears t9 be much more reliable then the Dometic/Atwoods have been lately

Many thanks to all that have replied to this post.
I emailed Dometic with part number (33082) provided to me by Camping World and they indicated maybe three weeks out. I provided a copy of that email to Camping World manager and service advisor. They still insisted four to six months out and asked me to pick up my rv.
Two days after I brought it home, just like magic, Camping World got their order of sail switches in. I now have an appointment for tomorrow to have it replaced!

JMHO, but at this point I would do the repair myself and cross CW off your list of places to spend money.

It’s nice that CW did get some sail switches in but quite frankly the sooner you stop taking the RV to places like CW and learn to maintain your RV yourself the happier you will be..
In 45 years of owning many different types of RVs I’ve taken one back t9 the dealership one time for a stress crack repair on the rear cap
I don’t want my RV sitting at some RV place for weeks or months on end.. I want to use it
YMMV

Update, CW is about ten minutes from where I live. The Dometic Furnace is still under warranty, and appears to have a defective part from the get go. One day in their shop and it was repaired at no cost or busted knuckles to me.
Once the warranties are over, I'll be handling all repairs & maintenance. 35+ years Building & Maintaining Public Schools should prepare me for anything found in a 5th Wheel!
Thanks to all that replied.
