Can't find the switch?

Took the cougar out for the third time since May. All went we'll except for "the little buzz" when i touched anything connected to the frame. But that's another story. Got that one figured out. I just figured out i have an electric/gas hot water heater. the problem is i can't find a switch for it. I found the breaker. Anyone have any clues? i have a switch that says "heat" on my tank gauges but that switch has been in the off position and we've been getting hot water. also i have had the LP tanks closed

On the exterior behind the cover there sometimes a toggle switch secured with a pin to keep it from being turned on inadvertently.

They're in different places on different units. Most have a small switch behind the exterior grill/panel where your hot water heater is, some also have another switch in the water control area where you change your valves for filling with city water, water heater bypass etc. Mine has one in the interior panel where the tank water level indicators are. Typically just a small red, lighted rocker switch. The electric switch is only for using the hot water heater on electric. If you've been getting hot water, it's probably from the gas. You don't want to accidentally leave the electric switch on without water in the tank, the heating element will burn up pretty quickly.

Take your outside cover off. Look in the lower left corner behind the pilot apparatus. Mine was hard to find.

Do not turn it on unless it has water in the tank. You don't want to burn out your electrode.

"All went we'll except for "the little buzz" when i touched anything connected to the frame."

This is a serious condition, and needs to be addressed immediately. A "HOT" chassis can be fatal to a pet or small child. In wet conditions it's even worse. You need to isolate the problem to either the power source not being properly grounded, or polarity reversed, Or your camper may have a wiring problem.

Please let us know what you find,

Pull Toy, you could not be more correct. Hopefully this will make you feel better. This same OP had another post yesterday where he said he found a loose or corroded ground wire in his system and it has since been repaired. Like you, I only hope it was repaired correctly.

its all good guys.
Have a new plug on order and i'm not going to plug it in until its replaced.
i guess the eyes ain't what they used to be.
i found the switch and yes it was behind the door on the bottom left
now on my tank level console i have 2 switches
one says pump. i know what that's for
the other says HTR. I though that would have been for the hot water but its not
i have a thermostat for the heater
could that be for heated tanks? i have the polar package

If your Cougar monitor panel is the same as mine, there are two switches, one is the water pump and the other controls the gas function on the water heater. Electric function is "outside" or "circuit breaker" (your choice and there are differing opinions on which to use)......
