Alaska

Wondering how long this Covid issue will keep the Canadian border closed so we can't drive to Alaska???
Was planning a trip for June once we retire, but doesn't look good.

It’s open now, but who knows if they will close it again.

Curt, it would behoove you to fire up your laptop and google the info you're looking for. The gates are open, been open since November, and you have a lot of planning ahead of you.
We've made the Memphis-Anchorage trip a couple times, over 'top-o-the-world highway' through Dawson, etc, and it won't happen without you doing a little planning.

Quite possible it could change again in January. They are prohibiting non vaccinated truckers beginning on January 5th IIRC. Not sure what the requirements have been for the non trucking traffic up until now though. This will probably add to the supply chain issues.

I just keep reading on line that only fully vaccinated people are allowed through.
And I don't feel like being a government guinea pig.
Will have to wait and see what happens in the future.

If you are unvaccinated you cannot travel through al land border into Canada. From what i see and hear in the news up here I don't think this will be changing anytime soon. Now with the new strain taking hold. I would say your chances are slim to none and slim left town.

I am going to agree. But the new strain I hear is no worse than a sniffle like a cold. Government scare tactics.
Just wanted Mr. Trump out and Sleepy Joe to ruin our country.

I would say you were being quoted. I don't know you or what your lifestyle is but it irritates me when people make negative comments about getting vaccinated. Especially the ones that still smoke a cigarette while they are saying no to the shot. Or stuffing their face with a big mac or eating fast food 4 times a week. We all know what that stuff does to you and people still do it. Unless that is all fake as well.......?
You started making it political. I'm fully vaccinated by my choice. If your not great your choice. Canada is the one that is not letting non vaccinated people in so they must be corrupt as well.

I follow a FB group ( Alcan highway) and see there are lots of requirements for getting thru to Alaska, as to where you can stop and or what stores you cant enter and how long you have to get out of Canada. We have long wanted to make the trip to Alaska, but until sanity returns (if ever) to our neighbors, its just a wish list item.

I think this is an unfair statement. We are not operating insanely. To be honest Canada opened its borders to fully vaccinated American travelers long before America reciprocated and opened the border to fully vaccinated Canadian travelers. If you are fully vaccinated you can travel to Alaska with no restrictions on where you stop or for how long. If you are not fully vaccinated you simply cannot enter the country. Pretty straightforward to me.

The discussion of the ability to enter Canada and/or any requirements to do so is a discussion pertinent to RV travelers. Comments about personal views on the political situations in any area are......political and therefore prohibited. There are strong, differing feelings among many folks about lots of things. Inflammatory comments only serve to ignite flames. This is an RV forum so let's keep things on track.

Well said, thank you. I was thinking the same. Enough about the personal feeling s about the governments and their policies. This is supposed to be a forum for helping RVers

What John (Carrottop) said is on the money. This information is readily available online to anyone, even those like ----- with half a brain. We are still planning our return to Alaska trip for next summer and foresee little or no trouble.
And K_N_L, I believe that, nope, I'm not going to say what I really feel.
