Recommendations for tow vehicle maintenance in Flagstaff AZ

I'm a full timer in the area and need to have my truck serviced ( transmission, differentials, oil, fuel, etc. ). Need to find a shop who can be trusted to do the work right and on time. Thanks in advance.

I've always found that when traveling, having work done at the dealership gives you a "manufacturer's recourse" if there's a problem in 2 weeks, when you're 1000 miles from where the work was done. Going to a "somewhat cheaper independent mechanic" may save you a few bucks, but if there's a problem discovered a few weeks or months from now, there's not much recourse to get it corrected. With the manufacturer's authorized service center, you at least can get some help from Chrysler to "run interference with the offending dealership"....

I'd stick with the dealership when traveling. YMMV

I'm with John. I only take my truck (vehicles) to a dealer when traveling. There are "mechanics" and then there are "mechanics". Some are good and some aren't so good. Unless I lived there and knew one from the other I won't go to any of them which then leaves the dealership, and I've never had a bad experience doing that.

Our vehicles only go to the dealer, but we have an exceptional dealer in a nearby one red light town.
Call several dealers and ask what is their labor charge for an oil change if you bring your own oil and filter. My dealer charges $10. I get the oil of my choice from WalMart.
I’d be interested in what the dealer recommends as far as adding or not adding limited slip additive in the rear end. Chrysler says no in my owners manual, my dealer said yes.

Like others have said, mine goes to the dealer whether I'm on the road or home. Things just cost too much nowadays to take chances with stuff this expensive. Plus anything they do has a two year unlimited mileage warranty. Well, at least the Ford dealerships have that, not sure about GM or Dodge.

There you have the "general consensus" about who to use. To take it one step further, imagine taking your truck to an independent mechanic who is "factory trained and just left the RAM dealer last week, so he's up to date and "the best around"... He installs an aftermarket part on your vehicle, or even an OEM part. Parts sometimes fail, and in a month, the part he bought from Chrysler or from NAPA fails. Even if Chrysler or NAPA stand behind their product and agree to provide a replacement, Who is going to pay for the labor ??? If the part had been installed by a RAM dealer, or a Ford or GM dealer, you've got "arguing room" to get help not only with the replacement part, but also with the labor, which is often the most expensive part of many repair jobs.....

If you're talking about someone in the Richmond area, these guys are highly recommended. They have lots of experience and don't mess around with aftermarket mods. They service lots of diesel trucks and know their stuff.
